    @kirby i remember having classes in these things as a kid in like the peak of winter so we'd be out there for some pe stuff in like mandated shorts and tshirt uniforms right and it would be snowing outside and as a punishment they'd make us just stand outside the building till the class ended, shit was really cold :(

    @vriska @kaia @mangeurdenuage in eastern europe you can get lots of nightly conversation from drunk russian bums. for the locals that's still taboo though atleast here idk about the rest of europe but like latvia and finland atleast both have the "most introverted countries" type of reputation. I've seen articles of west euroes complaining about it though so it surely isn't everywhere.

    but seriously what do you get out of small talk with people you dont know, and having to keep up with random gestures all the time? nothing, it's a waste of time that you can also easily fuck up and get quite uncomfortable with very quickly

    though when i lived in a small village here probably every few people i walked by would say hi or good day but that wasn't very many

    i've never experienced the friendless to that extent but maybe thats tourists privelage or something idk lol. could also be poor luck or not knowing how to talk to people, but yeah thats definitely different experience than i got out in most of kurzeme or now living in the city here. latgale is a bit more talkative i think on account of all the russian influence, but not necessarily too friendly
