@mekkaokereke What probably makes a big difference is that Bluesky has defaults that work for most people who don't have the time or don't want to change theirs. On mastodon, you'd have to follow a bunch of hashtags and people to have an interesting, varied feed. So I think follow starter packs would be a good thing indeed. Easy couple of clicks to try different flavours.

@ma_ui @sergiodomeyko @palin @Strandjunker I don't think that's the case. A lot of those dictatorships were installed by the US or other meddling. Look at Zapatistas in Mexico or the long democratic traditions in many latam countries. Where the tradition hasn't been broken, there's no more authoritarian leaders than in the "west" in my opinion.

Her 3 children were killed by the father with a restraining order against them, after he kidnapped them. Police told her to wait and see. Enforces other previous similar rulings as I understand it.

I'm not a lawyer but the problem looks to stem from the legal system as much as the enforcers.

Politeness is just a facade to get inside. Compare what their actual goals are, what the words they say there mean. Polite language won't change the intent. Roll over for dictators and make slaves of most people, including their supporters. Fascism needs someone to other, always.

@cstross @jalcine Pretty sure in my case it's just dictatorship paranoia. At least the US pretends a little (for now). A matter of the lesser evil. There simply is no other nuclear power to stand against dictatorships, yet. Even India is veering awfully near dictatorship and even worse into greedy capitalism than the US.
