@Kierkegaanks@RickiTarr I don’t know how he ever got a reputation as a genius. He was in the right place at the right time with PayPal etc money (he was booted out of PayPal) and anything he has designed or promised has failed.
@APBBlue having spent time in boarding school in India, boiling water in a pot and having a bucket bath is all very familiar. 😊
And now you have reminded me of time my FIL told the story of how their hotel in NE India advertised they had hot running water. Turns out a man came running to their room carrying a bucket of hot water. 🤣
@inthehands setting aside the ignorance and insanity of their plans, there is no amount of money you could pay me to use or test anything conceived of, managed, or coded by these half wits. I will never set foot in a Tesla. Not go near any of his rocket launches nor his robots or autonomous cars. Musk is a dangerous imbecile. How he has managed to fool some many people for so long, I do not understand. #USPol#Tesla#SocialSecurity#Incompetents
Throwing this out to fediverse. As I handled my FIL and now just MIL’s medical records, bills, insurance for them I am finding so many errors. Info overlooked, overpayments, etc. Wondering if there’s good software for tracking medical history AND billing AND insurance, etc. I have done a few searches but am really only finding health apps. I want a head start on compiling hubby’s and my medical history and billing so we don’t end up in the mess my in-laws did. #medical_data#medicalsoftware
One of my projects is scanning in tens of thousands of family slides and photos taken over the years (since the late 1800s in fact.) The family lived in India for decades. This is one of my faves from Kaziranga National Park, where you go out on elephants to watch the rhinos, because elephants can get very close to them, even with people as passengers.
This photo taken by my FIL cracks me up. I call it "Elephant, Mud, and the White Sari."
Turns out American democracy was living paycheck to paycheck.
As for national security and the economy, we have already proven to be untrustworthy international partners. This will not change for decades, if ever, even if we get rid of the current regime.
Ignorance and apathy is how we reached this point. Unless we ALL step up now, this is a downwards spiral to the death. Nobody is coming to save us. We have to save ourselves.
@snopes My humble suggestion is that for Trump and Musk, you create an inverse Snopes. Default is that it's fantasy or a lie, and then report when something actually *is* real and true.
@RickiTarr@Nickiquote I'm half Indian, so I've never used a rice cooker, but a time saver for me was when a Bombay friend told me just chuck in a bit more than 2 to 1 water to rice, boil it down till you see the air bubbles, then pop on the lid and steam on low for 5-10 minutes. I used to steam cook it before. For quick meals, that's a huge benefit.
@inthehands@BruceMirken@KimPerales Oh yes, I don't think he's trying to build or govern. He's definitely trying to destroy. But I cannot bring myself around to him being competent, given his track record with other businesses, and having watched him throw things at walls to see what might stick at Twitter. He wastes so much money doing this also, which is the irony.
@BruceMirken@KimPerales Watching Musk's leadership at helm of Tesla it's hard for me to see him as anything but a fool who lucked out and who found gullible investors. I'm reading market analysts "still" thinking Tesla has a future. Based on Musk's "promises" of his AI and robotics. The car Musk did design (cybertruck) falls apart. Tesla while a decent car, is horribly outdated. And Musk is killing the brand name by the hour. I'm just not seeing it. Other firms, yes. Musk's? I don't see it. :)
Assume Trump is too stupid to immediately back off playing let's pretend powerful POTUS by initiating absurd trade war with OUR ALLIES, and Canada and Mexico will respond strategically by targeting red state products. How can we Americans assist in making it painful for red state legislators & Trump supporters. Should we also boycott the same products to help send targeted message? Wondering if Trump enablers are akin to addicts who need to hit rock bottom before getting help? #USPol
@mekkaokereke@thadd as a shareholder I would be very upset with any company I invested in that did away with DEI. I know that it benefits me as an investor. Besides the moral matter of course.
I read that Zuckerberg is calling people who leave his platforms, "virtue signalers." Yup. Indeed. I'd also add, "ethics and morality signalers and patriots." We should all signal that we don't support this kind of behavior. With action.
@LifeTimeCooking I missed this post. We also lived in Lebanon (Beirut for a few years) and I love Lebanese food also. I have fond memories of street corner schwarma on arabic bread. Yum. Even though I was so young, food memories can be so strong!
Insatiably curious. Lover of language. Fascinated by patterns. Gets lost down rabbit holes. A trifle geeky and rebellious. How does it work? Why? Loves animals, music, art. World Citizen (Lived in India, Iran, Lebanon, UK, now USA) Current obsessions: 25k+ photo & ancestry mash up project (year 1900+ and NE Tribal India), and home makerspace & laser cutting design. AND Pachyderms. :) Onwards and upwards towards the world we could be. Be a strong voice for the voiceless. She/her.
