@bryanredeagle@nullagent Signal relies on centralized servers and encryption keys were being stored in plain text. Unless I can host an app myself I can't fully trust what it will do or who they give access to. It needs to support end to end encryption with no logging. Bonus if it can be deployed adhock over out of band networks.
What I recommend, well I don't know. I'm looking into Meshtastic, but that requires dedicated hardware, Matrix is good, but extra effort has to be made to make it secure. Sadly, projects like @supapp appear to be abandoned.
@nullagent I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for Signal, which I equally distrust as Telegram as well and Matrix. Secure communication is becoming a matter of life or death for many.
@Rasp times like these, I really hate how much my head injury affects my ability to communicate, especially on the internet. My poor internet means I can't game online with you. We are likely nowhere to one another, so no hanging out or anything. But I sincerely wish I could help you in some way.
Finding something to motivate us going forward is hard. For me it's spite, I will make it despite all those a-holes putting me down, and I will do everything I can to prevent others from having to go through what I have.
@Rasp I know this can be hard to hear, and it's a harder thing to live with, but happiness is something we have to find for ourselves, not from others. When we find our happiness, then others find us.
I've spent years struggling with depression. The only times I had genuine people around me were when I found my own happiness. Trying to please others all the time just brings us down.
I understand how hard it is to find self-worth, I'm literally a redheaded stepchild who was treated like crap growing up and have a body defect thanks to cancer.
@Rasp friendships are a two-way street. You're trying, their not, so f em. I let jerks like this have too much sway over me in the past. If they can't show you even this level of respect, they aren't worth your time. Never let their disrespect devalue who you are.
@vantablack this why I've avoided using that name, and I preemptively set up filters associated with that candidate. They love to troll in her name, been that way since her failed presidential primary.
@killyourfm I'm curious if those third-party apps are still working. Yesterday #Newpipe stopped working and not just for downloads but also online playback. Making me worry YouTube just implemented a big change designed to screw over third-party apps.
@tillshadeisgone what's bad is that it's law we have to register for Selective Service (Draft) when we turn 18. My friend didn't, and his parole officer tried sending back to prison for not doing so. My friend had no idea he had to register.
@Rasp for me, I don't like using "it/it's" because it easily dehumanizes me as a person. I've thought of myself as being worthless and defective since I was a child, and it's too easy to slide into self destructive habbits.
