@QasimRashid and for this reason, I can only see things continue to slide. I'm pulling together what resources I can to leave the US because I know they'll go after everyone who even thinks differently from them.

Honestly, if there isn't a #GeneralStrike by years end, the US is dead. It's shell nothing more than a dictatorship. The principles we grew up being told were American were just another lie.

@petergleick their covering all their bases, so no matter what, any kind of disaster that hits will be fatal. They meet the very definition of domestic threats, but our elected officials are too cowardly to take appropriate action.

Is there anyone here who can point me to resources for an American finding work abroad? Ireland has a major appeal, but I don't know anyone on the ground there?

My family has some Irish/Scottish roots, but it's unclear how deep they run as my family never focused on our heritage? Also, some Germatic and possible Cherokee and lineages?

I want to leave the US as things are really accelerating in a bad direction quickly. While I'm waiting on my passport, I want to find what I need to work abroad. I have training in IT Support and Project Management but also spent quite a bit of time working as a machine operator in multiple manufacturing industries.

@tek and I've seen this story play out already enough times I can't trust the Democratic Party. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. Too many communities are at risk to wait for electoral change. We have to act on our own to address those issues while also resisting the fascist scumbags.

@tek as much as I respect you, please stop referring to Dems as Left. They are not in any shape or form left, just slightly less right-wing. As long as corporate interests rule the Democratic Party leadership, the Left (society) has no representation. Recent history has shown even when in power Dems fail to do anything substantive to address issues faced by those outside the donor class.

@tek I was planning to do a similar build, but glad I picked a Meshtastic standalone device first. So far, I can't find any other nodes in my region.

@persagen yeah had to play the first one to get that earworm outta my head.

@bryanredeagle @nullagent Signal relies on centralized servers and encryption keys were being stored in plain text. Unless I can host an app myself I can't fully trust what it will do or who they give access to. It needs to support end to end encryption with no logging. Bonus if it can be deployed adhock over out of band networks.

What I recommend, well I don't know. I'm looking into Meshtastic, but that requires dedicated hardware, Matrix is good, but extra effort has to be made to make it secure. Sadly, projects like @supapp appear to be abandoned.

@nullagent I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for Signal, which I equally distrust as Telegram as well and Matrix. Secure communication is becoming a matter of life or death for many.
