hey if i havent been clear about it, im still job hunting too. im a fullstack software developer with a decade of experience, and am eager to start a role that is, in order of preference, remote, seattle, or minneapolis. most of my experience is in php/js, with six of those years also heavily involving project management and mentoring. but i am very flexible on what the role is; i am a fast learner, i will take entry level in any tech stack if it keeps me housed.

car bt audio stutters horribly unless the bt has been connected for like 30-70 seconds first

who thought this was okay to manufacture

hello! my name is rachael. i am a nonbinary trans woman and i live with my spouse and two dogs (pictured). we're in a US state that is very hostile to trans people (indiana) and i cannot find work. i was fired some time ago for being trans, and unemployment ran out months ago. i have been intensively job hunting all this time, but no one is willing to hire a trans person.

unfortunately, we have bills to pay, including rent, and i have some left over from last month too because i couldnt get the funds. i want to keep working on my job search so i can use a job's income to keep us from being homeless and eventually move out to Seattle. so we need help to be safe until that happens.

we need $2200 to get through this month. i know, it's a lot. but anything you could do to help us i would be so incredibly thankful for and you would be helping to keep to trans people off the streets.

hey. so. our instance is known for promoting mutual aid posts. we're proud of that and think it's wonderful how fedi can be so supportive of each other.

however.

please do not tag a bunch of us specifically, either in identical posts or one big post, asking for us to promote your mutual aid post. it puts us in the very unpleasant position of having to try to figure out whether or not youre a spambot, when we would really prefer to stick to our values of helping and implicitly trusting those in need.

i dread the eventual day we're wrong about someone in this way and end up suspending them when they truly need help. we will always happily boost from the #MutualAid tag; reaching out individually pretty much guarantees no response. and other instances will likely err on the side of spambot without hesitation, cutting you off from help.

basically, we want to help you as much as we can. we assume good faith from all of you. but when you mimic a spambot, youll be mistaken for a spambot and ignored.

"legal name" is such a poorly defined concept in the US. what i got today was a judge's order for other agencies to update their record of my name. i have to tell several different parts of the government about the name change myself. i have to personally tell social security, the county i was born in, the dmv, and the passport fascists if i want any of those places to consider my name changed. theres no proper centralizing of it and no communication between departments.

so im rachael "legally", but that doesnt mean shit if i dont tell anyone. lmao

if you have a problem with mutual aid i will simply suspend you and likely your instance too. then you dont have to see poor people anymore

to be entirely honest, the goal should have been around $2300, i just got too nervous to ask for so much... im trying to figure it out. but youre all absolutely amazing.

im so sorry, i hate doing this, but i have to admit i lowballed my goal by quite a bit out of guilt of asking too much... i appreciate how much you all have given, i really truly do, but watching my mutual aid post get so quickly met while so many others dont, makes me feel guilty. so i didnt want to admit the actual need, trying to push some of that help elsewhere.
