@thejapantimes Stop sanewashing DOGE. Musk is a bull in a china shop, destroying US government effectiveness and efficiency, particularly regulatory agencies which cover his businesses. This is a regime, not an administration.
@WarnerCrocker@StephanieMoore Given that the current US regime is a scam perpetrated on every Repug voter (a disproportionate number of whom are elderly), well, they would cancel this, wouldn't they?
@jwildeboer Place if birth is not a memorable thing for many people. Japanese people applying for a UK visa get surprised by the question. Some do not actually know beyond, usually, Japan, because it's not a thing here.
@jwildeboer But are you able to send to GMail and Hotmail/MS Outlook online servers (now wel over 50% of accounts seem to go through there). MS and Google seem hell bent on forcing all small mail servers out with opaque DNSSec and DMARK demands that only work part of the time even if you stringently follow their published rules. I've seen lots of long-time self email hosters give up due to "embrace, extend, extinguish" on the email protocols.
@phaedral@aspragg@pluralistic@d2718 This is exactly the same as many private hire operatipns in the UK, except the drivers and cars ,usy be licensed and insured properly. the firms used to be call centers/radio dispatvhers and ate now app based for drivers and often for passengers, too.
@aspragg@pluralistic@d2718 I've been teaching this for years in my ECommerce course. For example, Uber/Lyft are just unlicensed private hire cars, not an innovation.
@cstross@blades Hmm, I still remember a conversation with you and Mary at a con sometime in the 90s about sysadmining as the basis of a fantasy quest. I definitely get the feeling that some of those concepts worked their way into the Laundry Files.
