@a_cubed@inthehands No, sadly, it’s not new. What is new, at least to me, is my willingness to name the sin and understanding the connectedness of it. Not exactly a world changing epiphany, I know. Perhaps just a small voice, or even just the barest breath, of God’s larger truth. One step, by one person. We all start somewhere.
He’s right. What is happening in #Gaza is #genocide I have been resisting naming the sin of the Israeli government, and of all the governments supporting or just watching this happen, including my own. I have, to my shame, been silent about this suffering. So what changed? Last week, I attended the Race Religion and Social Justice #RRSJ conference, and one of the sessions looked at how food has historically been used as a weapon. The tactics the speaker laid out, using Rawanda and the Holocaust as examples, are now being used against Palestinians. What we are watching in Gaza and the West Bank is the end game of what is happening with the ICE raids, cuts to SNAP and detention centers in the US. We will get there, sooner rather than later. This is #racism writ large and clear. I pray that the world wakes from this fever dream, repenting our hatred, and turning away from the violence before we lose the ability to do so. May God have mercy on all of us. https://scheerpost.com/2025/06/10/chris-hedges-the-last-days-of-gaza/
If you are following the situation in Tom’s River, NJ (the town is trying to use #EminentDomain to seize church property to turn into a park after the church submitted plans to the #zoning commission to build a #homeless shelter), here are some ways to help: #Epsicopal#TomsRiver
I hate to tell Zuck this but if FB has changed so that it is “no longer primarily about connecting with friends” it’s because the algorithms FB has implemented no longer allow for it. People still want to connect & engage with friends & family, as well as make new connections. The difficulty in doing finding & connecting with friends across multiple instances is one of the greatest hurdles Mastodon & the #Fediverse faces/needs to overcome. Discovery is easier on 🦋 but the plethora of feeds can make that platform challenging for newcomers seeking a streamlined experience & space for longer content. No platform will ever be perfect for everyone, but we seriously need to stop throwing up constant roadblocks to use https://www.benzinga.com/25/04/44807557/mark-zuckerberg-proposed-wiping-all-friends-connections-and-make-users-start-again-to-keep-facebook-culturally-re#Facebook#Mastodon#Bluesky#Meta#socialmedia
