@annika I used to run Cozy “on prem” (even maintained for recommended container imager for a while) but their approach to “open source” never really sat right with me and I abandoned it after they decided to pretty much break their entire ecosystem on a whim and not update their public documentation .. I think for them it was mostly marketing
@emilygorcenski that logic tracks, however, why is GCal so much better then? 🤔
Still amazed by the fact that you can ever only have a single “vacation” in Outlook calendar and it perpetually surprises my colleagues whenever I’m going on vacation because I can only ever enter my time off whenever the other has expired 😊
(Yes, I know about the event type of “Out of office”, but it doesn’t carry any of the benefits (automatically declining meetings, cancellation of existing meetings, auto-reply messages etc) of the regular “Automatic replies” feature)
@emilygorcenski let me guess, you also selected Salzburg for 1 and probably chose St. Petersburg over Moskow? This is the first time I’m actually scoring (slightly) above you although I chose LA over Myrtle Beach 😅
@annika that’s actually convenient!
@annika did you discover other proper uses of the eink display yet?
@annika I’m so jaded concerning these devices. Love the hardware, hate the software. I’d wager it’ll just become another paperweight after 1-2 years because its version of Android won’t receive any more updates (from the supplier or Google), and it will have so many vulnerabilities and issues, you might as well buy a new device entirely 😐
@babe this one’s for you
@emilygorcenski I‘m always surprised that this is such an issue in other markets (read: specifically, North America) since we’re mostly using lint traps in dryers in Europe .. a curious difference
@emilygorcenski honestly, I moved to Cologne 8 years ago. It’s an absolutely mystery to me how that remains a challenge in the capital of one of the wealthiest nations on the globe ..
First thing I did after the move was getting a new ID card, a new passport and have my move entered into the record.
Didn’t need an appointment, just went to the Bürgeramt at 7:30, waited for 10 minutes, got all of it (!) done in 15 minutes.
Berlin‘s public service infrastructure is bullshit.
What is it with the German (European?) obsession of renaming American TV shows from one English-only title to another?!
Example: the TV show “Invasion” (in Germany it’s on Apple TV+) is called “Infiltration” instead (?!?)
I’ve seen this a bunch of times now, even for movies; how does this make sense? (Genuinely wondering)
PS: Yes, I realize “Infiltration” is a word in German as well, but “Invasion” literally is as well 🤷
Germans calling all kinds of non-cash payment means “EC Karte” (Eurocheque card; a European alternative to American debit credit cards once widely popular in Germany), ie Apple Pay, VISA, MasterCard etc while the system was retired in 2002 (!) and replaced by the (now defunct) Maestro is so peak Germany it hurts me every time .. like, people are so backward in their thinking when it comes to payment methods they’re still referencing a system from two (!!) generations ago ..
@notjustbikes theres’s two services:
Lufthansa Express trains, with the train technically being „a flight“ (designation, signage etc). You literally check your luggage on the train and it’s automatically routed to your destination through the airport, onto the aircraft etc. You get a single ticket.
And Rail&Fly: super convenient for people traveling to and from all airports in Germany and usually included in any fare booked through popular travel agencies: https://www.bahn.de/service/buchung/bahn_und_flug/rail-and-fly-english
@doot this you?
