There are people on that list of signatories that could match total current funding of fediverse projects w/o effecting their bank account in a noticeable way.

This begs the question:
What do they find so frustrating about the fediverse (Which would be far cheaper to fund and easier to influence), that they would forgo putting their efforts in the ActivityPub direction.

Is it simply that Bluesky is 10 times bigger and growing faster? An important factor, I have to admit.

Save an image (full direct copy) of your disk. (This may take a while.) That way you have some time later to work on the problem, perhaps with a recovery expert, without writing over "deleted" files that may still be sitting there like ghosts.

I would be fine with ads to support a platform. (Also fine with a monthly fee, so long as there is reasonable free access for those who can't.)

But only if the ads are vetted somehow. Most of what I see in most places is absolute junk, and some of it is toxic.
