Remember when they were trying to say that people who took the vaccine were turning magnetic?
Obviously false, and yet the vaccine was still very much harmful.
There's probably a name for the tactic, but it's where your enemies try to associate you with something insane so that people disregard the very much sane thing you're trying to warn them about.

@sun @hj @mono @whiteline @ageha Closure magic is obnoxious in most cases. Maybe it's good when dealing with a pipeline like an HTTP request going through a bunch of pre- and post- middleware and you want to keep everything as functional as possible, but other than that it's just mental gymnastics to keep state while convincing yourself that you're not keeping state.

And if they tell anyone else, it's just another drop in the bucket of "I think it means this..."
