One thing I am learning from all this is how truly checked out many many Americans are from politics. I would talk to people, and they would just say, "Oh I'm not involved in politics, it's not for me." I thought this was the exception, but it's proving to be the rule. People told me Kamala didn't have any plans or Trump was great for the economy. Many many people live in a very limited education bubble. We are suffering under a deep lack of education, a lack of critical thinking skills, a world where it's increasingly difficult to check facts, and a group of very rich, and very powerful individuals who know this and are using it against the common good.

Finally: remember to take care of yourselves. There is a long road ahead, but we’re in this together.

Dann die Geringverdiener (während der Pandemie „systemrelevante Jobs”, davor und danach aufeinmal „ungelernte Arbeitskräfte”)... und irgendwann erreicht es dich.

Kein Mensch hat eine Wahl zu welcher Gruppe er gehört. Zu jedem Zeitpunkt kannst du zu einer dieser Gruppen werden. Zu jedem Zeitpunkt kann jede Bevölkerungsschicht in eine dieser Gruppen von der Regierung gezwungen werden. Jedes Mal ist es nur eine kleine Erweiterung der Definition. Jedes Mal dient die anfangs etablierte Entmenschlichung als Fundament für die gesamte Rechtfertigung dieser Handlungen. Jedes Mal nur ein bisschen mehr und ein bisschen anders nach Unten treten.

Keinen Schritt nach Rechts bedeutet bei sowas von Anfang an nicht mitzumachen: Migrant:innen und Geflüchtete mit mehr als nur Menschenwürde entgegenzutreten, sondern sie gleichwertig zu behandeln. Warum sind wir so blöd und finden uns immer mit dem Existenzminimum bei Bürgergeldempfangenden und Mindestlohn ab? Letztendlich wird das dennoch weiter gestrichen, trotz dem dabei inherenten Verstoß des Grundgesetzes. Man verdient keinen Respekt in dem man gehorcht und sich den Konditionen der Unterdrücker unterwirft. Kämpft für weitaus mehr als möglich scheint, denn nur so wurde unsere Welt geschaffen, und auch nur so kann sie endlich sterben.

We have someone who full-throatedly supports abortion, birth control, gay marriage, and workers rights versus someone who has openly talked about rolling this stuff back. We have someone who despises fascists versus someone who openly praises them.

@Nichelle I finished mine too. But am waiting a few days to mail it back because the road to the local post office is still flooded from hurricane Milton.

To speak within my lane: cis men, one thing we can do to help with the many missing stairs in our communities is to stand up and use the authority we're granted, by being men, to make it clear when behavior/speech we see isn't acceptable. It can be scary and uncomfortable, but usually less so for us than for those more vulnerable. And "pre visualization" works: you can make it less scary if you decide ahead of time, mentally rehearse it effectively, that you're going to do it...

As I wake up to the first morning with running #water coming out of my faucets in quite some time... I am mildly amazed at the Herculean effort required to accomplish this feat.

Considering the devastation and the videos of our water system that I've seen I was completely prepared for months.

Standing ovation for all of you water system workers out there waist deep in mud hooking up monster pipes.
