I'm seeing people talking in such a way that makes it sound like if someone is too "stupid or ignorant" that they don't deserve rights. I shouldn't have to say that this is how fascism and genocide starts. While we are fighting for ourselves and the most vulnerable among us, let's leave room for redemption, for education, and be very careful to not become the thing we are fighting against.

Waiting for the Tide (nichelle@wandering.shop)'s status on Wednesday, 13-Nov-2024 06:42:55 JST Waiting for the Tide @RickiTarr I agree with this, but still...all it would take is watching one Harris rally, and one Trump rally, and comparing the two. Or visiting each candidate's website. Trump's was empty, Harris's was full of information. 20 minutes on the internet would tell you all you needed to know about the two candidates. But with 1/3 of all adults not even being registered to vote...it's one of the things that makes me sad.

Ricki Gray Area Witch Tarr (rickitarr@beige.party)'s status on Wednesday, 13-Nov-2024 06:42:56 JST Ricki Gray Area Witch Tarr One thing I am learning from all this is how truly checked out many many Americans are from politics. I would talk to people, and they would just say, "Oh I'm not involved in politics, it's not for me." I thought this was the exception, but it's proving to be the rule. People told me Kamala didn't have any plans or Trump was great for the economy. Many many people live in a very limited education bubble. We are suffering under a deep lack of education, a lack of critical thinking skills, a world where it's increasingly difficult to check facts, and a group of very rich, and very powerful individuals who know this and are using it against the common good.

Curious Magpie (curiousmagpie@beige.party)'s status on Wednesday, 13-Nov-2024 07:04:30 JST Curious Magpie @Nichelle @RickiTarr I would really like to agree with you. Today I’m thinking about people who are working two or three jobs and raising children and caring for aging or sickly parents and perhaps are disabled in someway themselves and don’t have time to sit down and watch a rally or don’t have Internet connection to look up a website. The fact that I can sit here typing out my thoughts about it all is the kind of privilege that I don’t examine often enough.

Ricki Gray Area Witch Tarr (rickitarr@beige.party)'s status on Wednesday, 13-Nov-2024 07:04:45 JST Ricki Gray Area Witch Tarr And I'm going to be honest, especially this year, I've had many many days where I've wished I could just check out. I didn't want the ugliness, anxiety, and the drama, I didn't want to think about it or get involved any more. In that way I get it, it's dirty and exhausting, and every politician, even the ones I support are flawed and compromised, but so am I. I wish I could care less, and I wish I could assume things will work out, but I want better for myself, my loved ones, all of you, and even the idiots who didn't pay attention, even though I'm gritting my teeth a little while I type it. I know you are all exhausted too, you just want to say fuck it all, and disappear, but if you haven't, thank you.
