@evan CC-BY-SA for all my stuff.
AI implications aren't really clear to me -- I don't actually have a firm stance on whether I want my stuff to be used for training or not.
But, I'm pretty sure if any of the generative engines ingest my content, they aren't providing attribution and don't make any outputs share-alike.
(Of course, I'm sure they also ignore any copyright terms.)

Keep an eye on the big picture. A vote for Trump is a vote for the climate apocalypse.

Biden called global warming an “existential threat,” and over the last 3 years, his administration finalized 100 new env regs to cut air pollution and greenhouse gasses, restrict toxic chemicals, and conserve public land.Trump has called climate change a “hoax,” and his admin weakened or wiped out more than 125 env rules in 4 years.

@evan that's nice.
I'll try to remember not to comment on your polls since you seem to consistently interpret those comments as attacks on the poll rather than attempts to discuss the underlying issues.

@evan this seems to put a pretty strict set of restrictions on the domain of learning. E.g., I teach a movement art and while books, videos, and the community are all valuable, none of those are the primary channel for learning. Crafts and trades, e.g. carpentry, and skills like farming are more examples that don't seem to fit this. As a developer, books and the web are real valuable. But, I learn by actually building stuff...

@evan I am making pizza as we speak.
But, of course, like taco night, every night can be pizza night.

@evanprodromou Given this description, I'm strongly big fedi.
I suspect the small fedi folks may not be as accepting of your desc of small fedi as I am of your desc of big fedi -

@evan @kissane "Not for algorithmic feeds" seems like it would block Mammoth. Ditto for bluesky were they to federate. Is that a consequence you'd accept for keeping Meta from showing posts?
(I would appreciate a client-side transparent algorithmic feed. Since I basically have to implement one by hand currently via lists and judicious hashtags.)I suspect what people actually want is to block Threads.

@evan asking mobile providers to give a fediverse account automatically seems pretty arbitrary. Why should I want them to do it anymore than my grocery store along with a loyalty card? Or my bank? Or the electric utility?
Something like the post office or my local municipality would make more sense to me.
Not that my cell telco shouldn't do this, but I don't see the value prop for either cell subscribers or the company themselves.

@evan This message requires a certain amount of maturity and seriousness to hear. Puts responsibility on the folks who didn't step up. Which is part of why there's so much resistance to this truthbomb.

Whew! That was fast. We just got the all-clear in the city. The missile routes must be clearer now or the air defenses must have taken them out. I heard only one muffled boom. Back to studying.

From a friend in Kyiv
You're asleep. We're currently under sustained attack by cruise missiles. An hour and a half so far. No word on strikes yet. The ones headed to Kyiv should arrive in 30-40 minutes. We hope air defenses will be effective. The missiles are launched by Tu-95s over the Caspian Sea. That's a long way. Unnerving that cruise missiles can fly so far.
