    Remember when we let one far-right dude make up the whole critical race theory panic, and then reactionaries passed "anti-CRT" laws that were really anti-diversity laws, so that teachers were afraid to even teach about civil rights and the Holocaust, and then US students' knowledge of the Holocaust dropped precipitously? And it dropped the most where those anti-CRT laws were passed?

    Well, what if we let *the same dude* make up a whole plagiarism inquisition against the Harvard president?

      The funniest* part of the whole thing, is that anti-Blackness in the US is so predictable, that he can literally tweet out his strategy in advance, and it still works! Both times! 🤡🤦🏿♂️

      Because we are incapable of learning from our past failures when it comes to hating on Black people, especially hating on Black women.

      (*Funny for absolutely no definition of funny. This is why you don't have climate change progress, reproductive rights, bike lanes, or affordable healthcare).

      @bwebster @yaygya @colo_lee @Itty53 @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis MA is a bit weird in that the main GOP parts are the ones that cosplay as rural, in the outer outer exurbs. The actual rural parts are very liberal. At the same time, I think there are some national lessons to be learned - the "rural cosplayers" tend to be the MAGA base, actual rural voters are not a lost cause at all.

      @yaygya @colo_lee @Itty53 @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis uh, you can take New Hampshire off that list. They’re nearly a red state already. And Alaska seems like it would still be at least purple. You can add Massachusetts, every county in the state voted for Biden in 2020

      @colo_lee @Itty53 @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis nearly every state without its metropolitan areas would be a red state, except for Alaska, Hawaii, New Hampshire (maybe purple), and Vermont.

      @Itty53 @venitamathias @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis As it turns out, Texas is also like that. Houston, San Antonio, El Paso are all blue

      Every metropolitan state is like that. California here, it's no different. I live in the central valley apart from the major cities on the coast, it's as red as Texas out here.

      Edit, this isn't an invitation to discuss how elections should work, this is an observation about individuals you're likely to find in any given region of America. More rural = more conservative. That's the pattern everywhere. Of course trees aren't conservative.

      @mekkaokereke @mmlvx @valthonis New York State would be a purple/ borderline red state if not for NYC. I say this as someone who grew up in Upstate NY.

      @mmlvx @valthonis

      New York? Where Santos was elected? Where Trump is from? where Giuliani was elected under an incredibly racist police march and racist campaign against the incumbent mayor? Where 51% of the white women voted for Trump in 2020?🥴 Where Elise Stefanik is a politician, and where she does stuff like this?

      https://www.northcountrypublicradio.org/news/story/45947/20220531/stefanik-says-ny-schools-are-forcing-a-radical-and-racist-agenda-on-children-the-false-claim-fits-a-pattern

      It is literally the same group of people doing CRT panic, and trying to end DEI by going after University presidents.

      NYC is less bad. But NY state? 🤷🏿♂️

      Yeah. Mississippi and Texas don't surprise me there, but New York and Illinois (which has Chicago) very much do surprise me.

      @mekkaokereke Seeing Maryland specifically called out is just wild to me. I spent my elementary school years in the 80s in MD and the Holocaust was a huge part of history lessons. Bewildering to see it go from the place I credit for making sure I had lifelong awareness into the gutter of weaponized ignorance.
