I love the Obama one but this feels like it really ill-serves Harris' actual skin tone (the whitest white here is *ghostly* white) and "FORWARD" is giving me flashbacks to Clinton's '16 slogan. Bit of a miss for me.

@aral @Gargron Just to give the other side of this: there are probably a lot of pro-trans people who see server-level defederation of an instance as big as Threads as a draconian over-reaction in light of available user-level blocking tools. I just don't see any room in this thread for reasonable disagreement. It doesn't help that the few people I *am* seeing disagree are wearing their awfulness on their sleeves. Social media incentivizes a black-or-white viewpoint and I see tons of that here.

@FediTips I understand the negative impact social media has on world affairs and society. I am not a Facebook user, never joined Instagram, and will not use WhatsApp because of Meta’s ownership. I respectfully disagree with you that instances should defederate from Threads given how diverse its user pool is likely to be. My goal is to see a thriving Twitter alternative emerge and I see Threads federation as a net positive in that fight. I’m not with you on this.

@FediTips @offset___cyan What I really hate about this conversation is that it will make me sound like I'm defending Zuckerberg, who was my most disliked public personality until Elon Musk became prominent. I don't support my instance admins blocking Threads en masse and will move if they do. Everywhere I look on Mastodon there are politically radical people and I don't see how Threads will make that *worse*. I block and move on - as I can do with a user or a whole instance if I choose.
