    Question for those that use Mastodon clients that allow multiple accounts logged in concurrently. Is that more like a fast switching between accounts but at any one time you are a particular user or is it merging timelines/contacts/etc. across all the accounts? As part of my Relatica refactoring I think I'm going to try to add multi-account support and the former seems to be the right way to go to minimize confusion for most workflows. #Mastodon #fediverse #friendica #relatica

    @heluecht @andy Also best case scenario the Nitter servers are getting saturated. The main ones especially are becoming too limited. It is a small enough project that it may not have risen up on Musk's radar but I imagine their days are numbered too.

    I present the first named release of the Friendica mobile/desktop client: Relatica. It is still very much a work in progress but I'm going to start opening it up for beta usage (early beta). For iOS that will mean me letting up to 100 people into the inside testing team (Apple's limit). For the other platforms I'll be posting binaries/packages/install instructions for Android, Linux, macOS, and Windows in the coming days as well. I also setup a Relatica Matrix room for interactive discussions with me and other users. The README on the GitLab repo will have all those sorts of details.     @marek As I'm implementing photos and galleries/albums in my Friendica app I'm mostly interested in three things: making uploads during posting easier; making captioning during upload easier; making gallery search/browse easier. I have the first two done. Ironically I didn't even know about tagging people, being able to like it etc. since that doesn't follow the workflows I'm used to.

    @ianbetteridge It would be curious to see what a “Twitter Files 2.0” of this era would reveal about Musk and his buddies and what they have been doing. Ironically no one else running a real company would be so reckless with sensitive data so barring a massive data leak we would never know.

    @hypolite @wilhelm ...and practically speaking doing those computations are representing 25-50% of the total database load. At least it was in the 2022.06 and 2022.10 releases when I was experimenting with it.

    @hypolite Agree but if it essentially always comes back with the same answer why bother having it do any work at all? I understand that for people that follow a lot less people and/or a lot less chatty people it may be a decent thing to have. It just isn't for my use case at all. That's why the code change I would consider making would be to make it toggleable.

    @hypolite It hits that within two update cycles at most. I thought about tracking it but if I recall correctly it was at 175 or something like that at the one minute mark. So it essentially will always tell me I have new network activity.

    @hypolite The temporary change was literally just me commenting out lines 136-167 of src/Module/Notifications/Ping.php. The larger change I was talking about would be to add a toggle button that would do the same thing with an if statement like what I did with the group level unread counters. For my server the top level one alone is/was a substantial amount of my database usage. If the flag is always there and is always 999+ after 10 minutes then it really doesn't add any value to me but it is causing a lot of DB work.

    I just finished my Friendica upgrade and decided to let the "unseen" counter code execute again (I manually commented it out as an experiment earlier this year when user counts started going up a lot). It maxes out at 999+. It refreshes every 30 seconds the way I have my profile configured. It had well over a hundred within a minute. It was maxed out by the 11 minute mark. I'm probably going to make this an actual code thing to be able to toggle it off. #friendica #friendicadev

    @marek I personally want/use Friendica as the Facebook UX replacement on the fediverse. The closest thing besides that is Diaspora but DIaspora only federates with the Diaspora protocol not with ActivityPub. On the video questions, that is actually a very interesting question. Media upload in general right now is clunky through the UI. It is one thing I want to fix with the mobile/desktop client I'm working on. Adding short-form video could be interesting but would maybe explode the serving requirements if adopted too liberally by users. That doesn't mean one shouldn't do it. It's just need to be cognizant of it.
