The whole historical purpose of #OpenSource was to make #FreeSoftware "palatable" for big-corporations -- and today, we can see the results clearly where the #OSI is ignoring calls for transparency. Where the Executive directory is a personal account and blocks people who call on accountability.

Ethics matter!

So the @osi published a lack luster retrospective of the recent elections, where the conclusion was to "communicate more". No mention of the irregularities in how votes are counted, nothing about publishing the full, underrated results that has the normal thing since such procedures where put in place by @kfogel et al in 2013(?). Then we have Stefano Maffulli (current director) blocking people for asking for accountability.

As @kfogel says, it's not an issue that the Board didn't seat me and @richardfontana , but that it continues to hide the results.

Are there mainstream languages whose floating points are not implemented with IEEE 754, so 0.1 + 0.2 actually does equal 0.3? Because it seems uninformed to make fun of JavaScript for that if other languages follow the floating point standard with the same limitations.

You seem to be saying: FSF & SFC don't hold elections, so it's no worse for OSI to do whatever with elections regardless of respecting the process transparently.

Note that for *any* of these organizations to be deceptive in any public context would be a problem. FSF does not hold elections like OSI — but if FSF just had an *informal* survey (e.g. what members say are priorities) and then manipulated the data to present a different outcome, that would be dishonest.

@nazokiyoubinbou I would have no clue! I've not used MS stuff for some odd 40 years! But I do recall that Libreoffice and MS Office can exchange files, so maybe there is some compatible format there ...

@cferdinandi The GNU GPL doesn't infect anything, it is entirely up to the person incorporating things to decide on what to do.

Expat licensed code and GNU GPL licensed code can be freely mixed, WP themes _CAN_ be licensed under the Expat license, but the entirety is under the terms of the GPL (that is what compatibility means).

I don't know where you have read that, or who said that but it is completely wrong.

@cferdinandi The Expat license allows for exactly the same things the GNU GPL does, which is what makes them compatible. E.g., a non-commercial software license would not be compatible with the #GNU #GPL since it limits how you can use a program, something the GNU GPL does not.
