I'm spending so much time using Linux that not having easy and immediate access to Apple Notes is becoming a problem. What are y'all's favorite substitutes that have sync, iOS/macOS/Linux versions, and a remote chance that my wife could be convinced to use it for sharing notes.

I just got 3 of my typewriters back from being serviced. They feel great. It's nice having old machines like this that work so smoothly.

Least favorite: .heic

Well, Dolphin crashes every time it tries to preview a .heic file so I had to uninstall libheic for now. HEIC remains my least favorite format and continues to increase its lead.

@binarydigit I've only just begun to test it, but seems promising. I've been looking for a way out of Synology Photos and this could be it.

@binarydigit Yes. Not pixel-level stuff or layers, but basically everything from Lightroom. Even custom presets, etc.

@binarydigit Who knew?! I set it so double-clicking on a raw image opens it in Camera Raw, which has _everything_. Also, can customize the workspace, fancy exports, "workflows" etc.

@binarydigit Flickr is still the best at photo sharing. It's pretty quiet these days, though. I am 100% rooting for its return, so go for it. I say :)

I've gotta say, using Ghost has been much more pleasant ever since I disabled everything related to memberships or subscriptions. It feels almost like a blogging tool again.

I hope PikaPods sticks around because this is tough to beat. And it's been a smooth experience so far.

Leaning towards moving baty.net to Ghost. It will be easier to maintain /now /uses, etc there. This means committing to something I've "committed" to at least twice before, then bailed.

Well, I promised myself a 4x5 self-portrait today. I shot 4 sheets and missed focus on all of them. This was the most successful of the lot. I like to include the trigger bulb in the shot. Extra film-ey that way maybe?

@publicvoit @timbray Regardless of the tooling or how I'll use them, file names with spaces look broken to me and I don't know if I'll ever get over it.

@thomasfuchs I'm a little confused because your initial post seems to claim that (for this specific problem, at least) there's a "easily available" technical fix for the username issue. That doesn't sound the same as a "social problem that can't be fixed with technology". Granted, it was a pretty glaring oversight, but I'll wait before piling on. Public silence from the (small) team doesn't really tell us much yet and I think it's unwise to presume anything based on that.

I'd like to try a #switch game during which I can set my controller down at any time without fear of dying or losing anything. In other words, something relaxing. The last one I finished like that was "What Remains of Edith Finch". Recommendations welcome!
