🙃 I think my hobbies include spinning up websites for no good reason

@xandra I think it's a mix of "easier" to make websites and sharing information and bigger communities around the small web. The network effect is very real (most say why should I join XYZ network unless my friends are on it?) and so many people want to be a part of a bigger social media site but it ends up empty and broadcast only (Bluesky) or join a community but end up not really wanting connection (Discord).

Also, how do people want to read all these websites..They need to be mobile friendly in reality (not everyone is a desktop person like I am), and they need to be easily accessible for people (like a directory, url.town or similar). It's a very interesting thing to figure out.

We really also need big tech corporations to stay out of it and avoid enshittification 😂
