@yantar92 Oh, good thinking! 👍
I do have yankpad/yasnippet in place. However, shouldn't the issue also occur while recording the macro in the first place? 🤔

@amszmidt It works for emacs -q but that doesn't help much I guess.
Bisecting my config (https://github.com/novoid/dot-emacs/blob/master/config.org) is very tedious. 😔
Anybody with #Emacs #macro knowledge could answer why a specific macro is not executed the way I recorded it?
It's as if the last M-x is aborting the execution somehow.

Somebody with deep knowledge about #ActivityPub (the decentralized #Fediverse protocol that #Mastodon is also using) & the architecture of #Bluesky wrote a long-read about the wrong impression that Bluesky is a decentralized or #federated service.
https://dustycloud.org/blog/how-decentralized-is-bluesky/
In short: no, it's not. It's yet another centralized company that can - and according to experience - will go south some day.
«There are multiple ways this could end up being a problem for the decentralized world; one irritating way is that people might believe there's an "easy decentralized way to do things" that Bluesky has discovered which isn't actually that at all, and another is that Bluesky could collapse at some point and that people might walk away with the impression of "oh well, we tried #decentralization and that didn't work... remember Bluesky?"»
Do spare you extra work & maintain your social network here instead. It'll outlive the centralized alternatives.
And try to teach journalists!

His take on “If you haven’t done anything wrong, don’t worry”.
It's about time that #Signal is working on features to manage #groupchats with parallel discussions. 😞
It is really a drag when there are multiple threads ongoing at the same time. Although the tech could handle Signal group #chats with more than maybe ten people, the UX prevents me from participating.
The bummer was when we left #Usenet. Almost any issue with online discussions was solved beautifully back then. Then we started to come up with mediocre and primitive alternatives. 🤷
@iron_bug Have you read the process?
#GitHub offers a process to take over a project as the successor maintainer when the original maintainer can not be reached any more because (s)he deceased: https://docs.github.com/en/account-and-profile/setting-up-and-managing-your-personal-account-on-github/managing-access-to-your-personal-repositories/maintaining-ownership-continuity-of-your-personal-accounts-repositories
The only thing that worries me is how to get a death certificate of a somehow remote person with no personal relation? 🤔

A couple of years ago, there was an incident where #Adobe #CreativeCloud was blocked for at least a whole country because of some sort of political(?) embargo. I think it was a country in South America.
I don't mean temporary service outages.
Unfortunately, I did not bookmark anything related and somehow I'm not able to find any article on that event as it drowns in false positive search results (or my keywords are bad).
Can you help me here?

Brilliant chat.
Awesome that all major corporations are investing billions on integration this technology into their products. 🤷
@jtr Your article proves (again) that Emacs is not just a text editor.
My take on that: https://karl-voit.at/2015/10/23/Emacs-is-not-just-an-editor/
@amszmidt @jtr Interesting. Which Emacs implementation besides GNU Emacs has any practical impact beyond niche?
@amszmidt @jtr After working for almost three decades with Emacs, I only stumbled over XEmacs and GNU Emacs.
I've never stumbled over your other examples. Emacs might be a niche on its own, yes, but your examples don't even qualify for a niche worth mentioning IMHO - at least what their practical impact means. YMMV.
Emacs is a Lisp platform, no editor (only). I'd love to see your reference from the creators or Emacs. Might be a definition from the 70s/80s where this might have been correct.
@amszmidt @jtr I never used the term "Emacs editor".
If I would, I'd agree.
@amszmidt @jtr A Lisp platform. Easy as that.
If this happens to be something where you edit text, it's similar to a text editor.
If it happens to be composing music, cutting videos, playing games, visualizing your agenda, or many other use-cases, there is no text editor involved at all.
