@killyourfm and in exchange I’ve enjoyed countless hours of music, discovered hundreds of new artists I’d have otherwise never heard of, and had instant access to any song I want to listen to no matter where I am.

I get it, but ownership isn’t everything. Syncing music to an iPod and picking which songs you care most about that can fit on your device sucked. So did trying to find a CD while driving.

Streaming is good, actually.

To believe we would no longer do so if capitalism doesn’t exist is to both ignore current reality and fail to imagine anything else. Which is exactly what capitalism wants.

By your logic, existing in one system would inherently prohibit the formation of any others.

@amszmidt @mav I'm not sure how that's possible. GPL infects the MIT licensed code, which allows things GPL does not.

WordPress has successfully argued that WP themes and plugins cannot be licensed as MIT because of WP's GPL license.

@mav Sort of. It's "infectious" in that any derivative work must take on the same license. If you, for example, use a GPL library to build a website, all other parts of that website are then also licensed under GPL.

This is why all WP themes must be GPL licensed. As a result, GPL and MIT code are incompatible together.

we send money and bombs directly to Israel. Israel then literally indirectly uses them to slaughter Palestinians en masse, mostly women, children, and civilians. they have even publicly stated their goal is to ensure that the Palestinian state no longer exists.
