❤️🩹 Sigh…another ER visit with a scary cardiac episode. (I’m ok) Looks like Monday’s road trip is indeed off. Boy, it’s been quite the summer of cancellations and health issues.

@binarydigit @von Money can’t make you happy, but it can solve a lot of problems and thereby make more space for happiness. My understanding is that spending money on avoiding things you hate doing generally provides greater satisfaction than buying new possessions.

I hate to be critical, but Nebraska rest areas could really use an upgrade. At least a roll of toilet paper would be helpful.

I got an excited call from a natl park buddy in early Jan who wanted to tell me (since I'm "the quest guy") that he had run into someone who was trying to celebrate New Years in 24 time zones. The guy was in his 60s, but only had 4 left. He had just completed Samoa + American Samoa on consecutive days—a twofer—possible because the islands are split by the International Date Line (my buddy was in Amer Samoa to complete his own quest to finish the 63 National Parks).

Fell down the rabbit hole on this stuff a few years ago when I was considering adopting an “All the Time Zones” quest:
