TIL "We Shall Overcome" has its origin as a labor union song before it became more associated with the American civil rights movement.

Yeah, while I am very excited by the recent USPol developments (whew!) I have definitely found myself dragged back in and was reading mastodon like Twitter inn the old days. So I've unfollowed some folks who were just political news, adjusted my notifications and filters, and deleted the news apps off my phone that I had re-installed...

And yes I've also pretty much stopped consuming "news". It's been excellent. But I still have no problem finding out about things that actually affect me.
