at this point i feel like i can pretty accurately predict someone's politics based on their media diet (including youtube and socials). its an indictment on how little we talk politics irl with people outside our own worldviews, and how deeply we absorb political frames from our intimate, personal relationship with screens

a little while ago, i posted that LGBTQI need a LAVENDER BOOK, just like Black folks had a Green Book during the Jim Crow era.

the Green Book wasn't just a travelogue. it really was an organizing tool, for making visible the literal path of liberation across the neoconfederacy.

But that having been said, the presence of a literal genocide and thousands of dead children, makes this particular version of it... more distasteful and harder to tolerate.

I'm not a priest, nor a therapist; if they need to talk out their anger at 10M people who couldn't pull the lever for, let's be honest, some pretty valid reasons - I would prefer they do it elsewhere than my replies.

@AnarchoNinaWrites If I may humbly add, these politicians trying to get elected are often lawyers, with expensive law degrees. And in a court of law, it is the lawyer's JOB to convince juries and judges. This falls firmly into the "You only had one job!" category.

And yet, all the talking-head pundits, with their ceaseless, grating, jibber-jabber, want to make it everyone ELSE'S fault that the lawyer didn't convince the jury.

(I give this speech every election season. 😆)

So, I'm kind of at a loss. The would COULD mean something distinct and important; but MOSTLY we use it to lend a sort of false motive, and larger purpose, to what really just amounts to "excuses to whack a whole bunch of non-white people."

And again, the fact that this (eliminating pre-marked underserving ppl to preserve resources for chosen groups) is actually mainstream environmental and economic policy on a boiling planet under fossil fuel capitalism, makes it even MORE muddy a term.

I am coming up on an exciting time as I am getting ready to petition to graduate. I have from now until 2 months before my conferred date to complete this action. With that, I will be able to take the licensed professional counselor exam.

Democrats embraced Trump anti-immigration policy, cynically used antisemitism accusations to defend their support for genocide, threw their arms around cops, crowed about having the deadliest military on Earth, told the poor to eat shit, sat back while AIPAC attacked Black progressives, campaigned with Republicans, and shrugged at a hateful onslaught of anti-trans ads.

And millions of their voters stayed home.

I don't think "wokeness" was the problem.

Now, on top of everything else happening to me, my doctor's appointment is set for tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully I won't have to pay for any more paperwork or tests, but you never know with these folk.

I'm on the Fediverse because I don't think a global moderation policy is desirable. People want different things, so they ought to be able to form different communities, each with its own policies and ethos; the communities should allow interconnection as a rule, but it's right and natural that some communities don't want to interact, and that some should be shunned... Little platoons, subsidiarity.
