So re: the earlier discussion about the value of the term "ecofascism."

I agree with most of you who've posted narrow examples of what that term should mean; my problem is that in common and currently adopted parlance it just means "nazis doing/advocating eliminationism and calling it environmentalism" - which like, I mean actual members of the 3rd Reich did that too, and we just called them fascists

Malthusianism and just plain old fascism, seem to cover it without presuming honest intentions

Examples - the Buffalo supermarket shooter is not an "ecofascist" because he said "lol environmentalism" as an excuse to do a racially motivated mass shooting. He's just a nazi. Nazis OFTEN come up with noble-sounding excuses for why they want to murder a lotta people.

So, I'm kind of at a loss. The would COULD mean something distinct and important; but MOSTLY we use it to lend a sort of false motive, and larger purpose, to what really just amounts to "excuses to whack a whole bunch of non-white people."

And again, the fact that this (eliminating pre-marked underserving ppl to preserve resources for chosen groups) is actually mainstream environmental and economic policy on a boiling planet under fossil fuel capitalism, makes it even MORE muddy a term.

I don't have a good answer; maybe the key is to just ask folks "what do you mean when you say ecofascist" and go from there.

But it does seem to me that there's a vast discrepancy between what antifascist scholars, and opinion writers on mainstream internet sites, mean when using that word.

And in the latter case it seems to me to be supporting the idea that murderous nazis have a genuine motivation, when I know it's literally just a rhetorical device to justify murder and eliminationism.

tl;dr the Christchurch shooter didn't want to kill Muslim people because "finite resources on a boiling planet," he stumbled on "finite resources on a boiling planet" to justify his desire and intention to kill Muslim people.

And the difference does in fact matter when we're talking about arming people who haven't read a couple dozen books on fascism, with information to identify and oppose, well, fascists.

@AnarchoNinaWrites Years ago, I was called an eco-fascist by a self-described anarchist, all because I mentioned I am an anti-natalist.

They angrily knee-jerked out their thready understanding of Malthus. (Lot's of all caps!!!) I replied, "Um, no. I just think it's presumptuous to breed children into this hellscape, who never asked to be here, who are sentenced to a lifetime of avoiding their own inevitable death."

So it is I who is apparently the eco-fascist.
      Words mean nothing, apparently. 🤷♂️
