Can I post to a forum on kbin/Lemmy (a sub, "community", "magazine" or whatever name they have), and interact with other posts, using my Mastodon account?
I've tried opening a few kbin/lemmy threads in my Mastodon timeline, but only ever see the first post. (I've only just now started following a few communities, so my instance probably didn't "know" these older threads?)
So, kbin.social (and likely #kbin itself) is dead.
I only joined the #fediverse in the "twitter migration" and *already* have 2 accounts that died on instances that were "flagships" but just disappeared (kbin & firefish).
No blame or shame for the devs or anything. They tried which is much more than most of us.
But whoever "decided" that true mobile identity isn't a priority for #activitypub / fediverse, probably fucked up.
Why hasn't the fediverse grown more? Instances & immobile accounts!?
@BeAware@inkican Don't go with Lemmy.. Use Mbin indeed (https://github.com/MbinOrg/mbin)! I forked the /kbin project some time ago, I was afraid this would happen. So no worries, just move to one of the Mbin instances (or host your own Mbin instance).
Totally frustrated - Kbin is dying / dead and nothing's getting better. I was ready to pack it in on Reddit after the blackout and Kbin looked like a nice, non-weird home in the fediverse to go to. A year later, we're in a month-long breakdown with no end in sight. Imgur's cool, but I wanted the non-dystopian version of Reddit.
This noob is testing the interconnectivity of the #Fediverse:
The word out there on the Fediverse make it seem as if all the different tools (Mastdn/P-tube/Lemmy/etc.) can interact with one another. But this is not the case, as some work both ways, whilst others only one way, or at all.
Continuing to fight the uneducated misinformation campaign by the fake "Fediverse" Threads account...🤦♂️
If you're on Threads and want to help me fight this, find me there @beaware.live and boost/repost as well as like my "pinned" quote post calling them out!
We don't get people educated on Fediverse by spreading easily verifiable false info!
This video is SO good! Anyone who is interested in Fediverse nuances and the issues we've been debating for months now, should definitely watch this video!
Ryan made a pretty good point around the 16 minute mark about how Threads wasn't told to make their federation "opt-in" from the Fediverse side and that people feel differently about bridges for some reason.
Even though, they're the same thing, in most ways.
I haven't done that in A LONG TIME. However, there's been LOTS happening and I'm very excited for the future of the platform, right now.
I am obviously still a little cynical when it comes to corporations and their intentions with Fedi, though.
If I have time, (and if I feel good enough. Anxiety is a bitch) I'll do a writing session and detail my thoughts, reasonings, and experiences with this social movement so far.
I'll also be detailing the nuances of each cross-platform integration I have firsthand experience with.
Let me know if this is a type of blog post would be interesting or intriguing to you and it might help me with motivation to pull it off. I don't want to "yell into the void". Especially with something I have so much passion for, and will take some time to complete.
Kinda wish there was more interoperability between Fedi platforms. Like if I see a dumb comment that makes absolutely no sense from a Lemmy account, I want to downvote it, but I can't unless I login to Lemmy.
