That (real-life) driver was Puff Daddy aka Diddy's father. He was also a Federal informant.

Summary: Diddy is not a member of gangs like Crips and Bloods, but he has grown up around organized crime and has affiliations with groups like these.

He also has very violent tendencies (kicking down Cassie, bitch slapping Drake, and more). So in that sense, you can say he is thuggish.
