@glyph @kati It's an extremely weird race from a polling standpoint. We've never had a woman and non-white person running against a fascist with a ton of momentum but also severely declining mental health running in a year with abortion so clearly on the line. Different people will vote, folks will break with their habits and different people will stay home or vote third party.

@gwm @WAHa_06x36 There's a lot of space between "intermittently beholden to some corporate interests" and "we won't have elections anymore and will violently round up our political adversaries." Neither is ideal but one is clearly better.

@detachedspork Yep. Same for any kind of citizen lobbying or protesting. I've seen "journalists" bypass the 2 or 3 people who are from the organization that organized a citizen's lobbying event (slightly dressed up, wearing a button from the org, holding a notebook, etc) and make a beeline for a stoned person who is just as likely to have wandered over for the free food so they could print stuff like, "Activists attending the protest weren't very clear on what their goals were."

@arstechnica Connection with family is the only thing likely to help people rebuild after they leave prison. If our society is going to detain people, then the goal should be rehabilitation, not profit.

If Bugs Bunny had been made in today's conservative climate, they'd try to get us to sympathize with the hunter. If someone's hunting you just for existing, every kind of deception and prank should be on the table.
