@ParadeGrotesque we got one, they were very delayed in production and now the barrel socket and usb-c socket seem to have loose contacts, making charging very difficult. 😞

@goatsarah could be, does the US version come with usb-c as well?

@goatsarah weird, because I bought an iPhone 15 (base model) from the Berlin Apple Store recently for one of my parents, and that didn’t have a tray.

@goatsarah the current one is also eSIM only. As I found out the hard way when i needed to configure one for a parent.

@JoshuaHolland for me, the term antisemite has become very diluted since the attacks last year. The term has been thrown about so indiscriminately that it’s lost its meaning.

@aral not just there. I’ve been in ISO standardization committees that were rendered pointless because of company interference. They don’t want to implement anything they don’t already do, which in this case wasn’t a lot, and would only agree on the lowest common denominator. I got out as quick as I could.

@Ruth_Mottram @rewildingmag I’ve stopped writing impersonally in my papers. It’s not necessary, and the old papers didn’t do that either (case in point: Heisenberg’s paper is surprisingly readable!). Seems like somewhere along the line, someone came up with that “rule” and made scientists believe it, but it distances us from normal people unnecessarily.

@aral probably coincidence, but if I set my VPN to Germany (Nuremberg of all places) the site is blocked for me…

@anildash same. I had a good network of colleagues on there who seemed interested in my posts and interacted a lot with it. That is now gone, unfortunately, until that moment when they decide to move. LinkedIn seems to be a bit of an alternative to them but to me, it’s another walled clickbait garden full of ads.
