I was sad to read of the death of Val Kilmer. He was a much underrated actor. One of my favourite neo-noir movies starred him and his future wife, Joanne Whalley.

Early in his career he also made a really smart, spoof WWII comedy called "Top Secret!" (1984).

I'm going to talk about Goths. No, not the subculture people dressed in black, nor the Germanic tribe.
Goths are a type of pub (public bar) in Scotland, that are owned and run by a local trust. Typically, the profits from the pub are directed towards causes in the local community.
The name is a diminutive of Gothenburg Public House System. The system originated in Sweden as an attempt to reduce alcohol consumption, and direct money to local causes.

What a bummer!
Needed to charge the batteries for my head torch (for walkies, later to-night). Plugged my charger into the socket and the earth pin snapped. Without a functioning earth pin the live and neutral pins won't connect.
A replacement power transformer is about £15. A whole new smart charger is about £15.
I feel a bodge coming on...

For years after the incident where US President Carter collapsed whilst running, media outlets, particularly detractors, would insist how this demonstrated he was unfit (both senses) for office.
Ironic then, that Carter became the longest-lived US President, and the first to reach 100 years old.

Painted stone found in the forest, during to-day's #DogWalk. Text on the stone states: "May your 2025 be full of...".
What will your 2025 be full of, or what would you like it be full of?
Answers on a postcard, or in the comments below.

I've been driving a Renault Trafic van. It has been a mostly enjoyable experience, except for a few niggles.
One such niggle is the split-view wing mirrors. Whose dumb idea was that? The mirrors are split into two sections. The top section, comprising 2/3 of the area, give normal magnification. The lower section gives a magnified view. This arrangement makes reversing more difficult. For example, when reversing into lined bays, the line is shown with a kink because of the magnification.

I met the "Heavy Metal Priest" again, last night. He very kindly agreed to pose for a couple of photos. I said I would post the photos without names or pack drill.
We had a lovely chat, mostly about music, and then mostly about symphonic metal. We managed to swap the names of new bands that the other hadn't encountered yet.
HMP is only here for a few more days. He then returns to his usual parish. I wish him well. Godspeed.

This isn't a joke. All absolutely true. It's the sort of thing that just happens in our local community.
I'm *almost* tempted to attend the Mass on Sunday.
PS
I forgot to check whether he had a Black Sabbath patch. 😃 -

The local parish priest is away on holiday. In his place there is a relief priest. The relief priest is quite... unusual. He is fairly young, is a heavy metal fan, and wears a cut-off denim jacket with rock band patches. He seems to favour a patchouli oil scent.
He calls himself the "Judas Priest". 😃

I agree with this article:
"no one really knows what it means at all."Yipee is fairly common in English, although perhaps a little dated these days. I understand it as an expression of excitement or joy.
Ki-Yay, on the other hand, is meaningless, to me. I think they are non-lexical vocables introduced by, as stated in the article, by Bing Crosby.

Many a true word spoken in jest. The phrase probably does have that meaning now, as the movie quote is so famous. You just know the next time you are trapped in a multi-storey building with some German psychopath terrorists this is the first phrase that will come to mind.
