Yeah, Trump is the immediate concern. However, your suggestion might be frying pan -> fire. Who knows who might be in charge of the EU at some future point. Senior EU officials endorsing W Social is just a warning sign

Something more independent of any government is required. Getting certificate authorities included in browsers and email clients etc., shouldn't be that difficult. Funding might be more of a challenge.

Why do electric kettles always have a 1.7 litre capacity? What is special about 1700ml?

Is it because 1.7 litres is a close approximation of 3 pints? If so, why 3 pints? Did a long-dead king once boil water with this volume?

A cup is defined as a half-pint. I've never used cups, it is a US thing. A cup is approximately 284ml. Six cups is therefore 1704ml. As mentioned before, 284ml is a very big cup.

I'm not sure I'm getting closer to the truth, but, I'm discovering interesting stuff. 😃

I never buy new, either. Two main reasons for this buying policy. Firstly, new devices lose a lot of their value as soon as they are purchased. 'Phones are similar to cars in this respect. Secondly, brand new 'phones can't run #FOSS operating systems. It takes a while for new hardware to be assimilated. 😃

I only recently came across the browser based installer for /e/. This is a game changer. I hope it substantially increases the number of /e/ installations.

I sourced this 'phone last year in my frantic search for a device which could run #LineageOS and handle VoLTE on Three. Subsequently, I moved to EE, and got an Xperia to run #Sailfish. This 'phone has been sitting on a shelf ever since.

As the photo shows it is now running LOS. More about that later.

This is the first 'phone I've used that doesn't have a MicroSD slot. Half the 128GB has gone already. :blobsad: No notification LED, either. :blobsad:

It's a Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius). You were lucky getting that close, they are usually quite shy.

I'd support your call for more or better interpretive materials. Although, the ones I've seen at HS and NTS properties tend to be of high quality. I did go to a property recently (I don't remember which) where the info was provided on handheld devices. That worked well as there was depth to the info.

Just because others don't do the reconstruction well doesn't mean it couldn't be done well. 😃

What is it with spam at the moment?

I expected an increase in spam in the lead-up to Christmas. However, it hasn't abated in the last month.

My servers are getting floods of spam emails purporting to come from:

Omaha Steaks
Marriott Hotels
AAA
Bluecross (whatever that is)
Walmart
Costco

The spam seems to be mostly targetting US folk. I'm getting them because I have .com and .net domains.

Hmm, that's a very unusual arrangement for a stove. Where is the flue? Usually air would be drawn from the room, heated in a combustion area, and the hot gasses would be circulated around the ovens and hot plates. A water jacket would, optionally, be at the back. Hot water would be circulated to an external tank sited above the stove. The photo appears to show just such a tank.
