Yes, but this is happening not because of Mastodon, but despite Mastodon.

First of all, Mastodon is NOT the Fediverse, or activitypub. End to end encryption is not happening in Mastodon, it's happening on the activitypub side.

Second. The current team developing Mastodon is totally uninterested in (a) end to end encryption and (b) privacy, security and moderation tools. They are interested in becoming landlords and gatekeepers by growing their 'market share'.

First of all: make a backup of all the Windows file on the computer.

Easiest answer: try Linux Mint on it and see if you like it.

If you are a bit more technically oriented, try OpenSUSE.

If you are a lot more technically oriented, try Debian.

Finally, if the computer is a bit old, you can always try a BSD.

Remember that you can run Windows, and its applications, on the Linux machine by installing VirtualBox and installing Windows in a virtual machine.

Nah, I am just messing with you.

The Real real real reason is that Germany 🇩🇪 invaded Belgium 🇧🇪 twice last century to invade France 🇫🇷... And it ended both times pretty badly for the Germans.

But the REAL reason we don't fight each other is that we all saw what Belgium did in the 19th century in Congo.

It was horrible enough to make all the other colonisers (🇫🇷🇩🇪🇬🇧) stand up and say... "Leopold, my man... WTF Dude?". 🤢
