less than kind term for those:
    "BSO"
    bike shaped object

they 'can' be pressed into service, , ?

    but generally not the effort.

hard tail, solid fork 80s,90s mnt bikes also get dumpstered

    those *are* worth the effort.

    oh kay

    i started doing it

    it=blocking bsky folks;

-whom I would likely follow if they were here-

whose content gets boosted here, and that content is a one-liner with a bsky link to read the whole thing.

    please don't

    the day I knew I don't fit in this world anymore;

buddy, then a RH dev, dropped a bunch of docs & a few books on me, gave me an account on internal RH dev stuff, so I could help him write BIND protocols for ansible/kubernates deployment,

    &

I saw 1st hand how those folks were handing dns , , ,

    i don't now
nor ever did have any great 'chops'
    that said
on what we used to call 'Internet Core Protocols'
    I was at least literate

i still ref to my ancient cisco cheatsheet docs to quickly lay out network subnets, never did memorise'em, and i can't do v6 math in my head

In my mind, I boggle, and think "my dudes! it's not *that* hard, wtf?"

but also, I mentally dismiss that value of, like you, 'but, you've been doing this stuff for 30+ years, , , mostly by-hand'

    ponder the ole
"violence begets violence" conundrum a lot, me

    yet
    confronted with an aggressor
    &
    the aggressor is a robot?

not convinced -by definition- the confronted person *can* be violent -in the classic sense, by definition- by resisting.

    aggression by a person
    vs aggression by property?

what does a water balloon filled with good ole oil based rustoleum paint mixed with carpet glue, maybe an abrasive corrosion agent do to all these robots?

    it's a good question

    a few things:

the 'speaker' is an electro-motive piston

so, -of course- there are mass ratios at play

    there are hacks tho:

    multi-source utrasonic hetrodyning.

utrasonic transducers, -duh-, much lower mass, & highly directional,
intersection of multiple utrasonic 'beams' can be 'tuned' via beat freq interference to pull much lower freq 'sound waves', at pretty respectable SPL

    I think that's where I'd dig in

    phase array

    damnit!
    burning brain cycles on this

    ok

the gas we call air, is elastic,
'sound' waves are, well, , waves

of air, abt 20% is o2
it's the o2 we care about here

we can pull the o2 density 'down' with sound, but of course it comes right back peaking at the inverse pressure concentration from the trough

    so
is there a reasonate freq for o2?
    sure
    do we care?
    I think so
    70-ish% is N
we mite care more about that,
*but*N has an affinity for o2

    Gaaah!

    Interesting Q
    Geee, thanx a *lot*

If you, or properly more Claire,
are -at all- intrigued with where I'm going with this,

I can put ya'll in touch with 'the source' -whom I was on the cusp of waking-up with a ph call, just now-

As an on & off former beltway bandit worker.

    I wholly endorse this message.

Too many anecdotes from the near half-century of being/working in & around the region to even hope to encapsulate in a post.

folks can't grasp the scale, because it defies credulity.

    That's interesting

was it in one of the New Management novels, that a time-critical dash thru London in a cab, wherein one of our protagonists complained about speed-limiting infrastructure was a bad thing?

or was it in Rule 34?

Honestly, I thought you were in the 'automobiles first! All else be damed' camp

    shame on me!

not enough of a drinker to grok this stuff, me.

    The IPA thing.

we used to drink beer. alc content was low (rel), came in pitchers, drink enough & you may well regret it.

Have had IPAs I really liked.

Very well recieved brewery opened up nearby (15min by bicycle), folks love it. Nice, bicycle friendly, famlies, dogs, kids, oldtimers, fire pits, etc.

had one of their IPAs that came in a small glass, w/tip, cost $10, & I poured it out.

    I can't afford it.

    who has all this $$?

stage was set when reagan's stacked agencies 'de-regulated' media. They buyout/ups began. Was bald-faced obvious. Even NPR got onboard to try to shut out low power radio licenses.

get big or sell-out, only path forward to, , ,monopoly.
