The Minnesota shooting case is now metastasizing unlike any i've ever seen. The successive resignations of heads of the crim section at CRD and 3 top career prosecutors in Minn -- who had hung in all this year n/w/stg multiple outrages-- means the Department is in open revolt in DC and the field.

@stux My Mother had radical surgery on one leg, lived in an iron lung, and spent the rest of her life disabled. And because of the disability, she was unable to exercise and died in her 70s. But when the polio vaccine came out, she whipped her kids in to get as fast as she could. And none of her kids got polio. Imagine telling her she should avoid vaccinating her kids.

    I'm forever blowing bubbles,
    Pretty bubbles in the air.
    They fly so high,
    Nearly reach the sky,
    Then like my dreams,
    They fade and die.
    Fortune's always hiding,
    I've looked everywhere,
    I'm forever blowing bubbles,
    Pretty bubbles in the air.

      I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles
"I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" is a popular American song written in 1918, released in late 1919, becoming a number one hit for Ben Selvin's Novelty Orchestra. It has been revived and adapted over the years, serving as the anthem of Premier League club West Ham United. Origins The music was composed by John Kellette in 1918. The lyrics are credited to "Jaan Kenbrovin"—actually a collective pseudonym for the writers James Kendis, James Brockman and Nat Vincent, combining the first three letters of each lyricist's last name. The number debuted in the Broadway musical, The Passing Show of 1918, and it was introduced by Helen Carrington. The copyright to "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" was registered in 1919 by the Kendis-Brockman Music Co. Inc. It was transferred later that year to Jerome H. Remick & Co. of New York and Detroit. James Kendis, James Brockman, and Nat Vincent all had separate contracts with their own publishers, leading them to use the name Jaan Kenbrovin for credit on this song. James Kendis and James Brockman were partners in the Kendis-Brockman Music Company. Reception...

Part of what makes me think 'bubble' is the mismatch between the growth projections and the tech itself. Current LLMs are akin to 1880s DC current grids, grossly inefficient with poor scaling, and for both issues nothing on the horizon but marginal improvements. They're a predecessor tech at best.

I for one think the Epstein Ballroom will be magnificent. I love the decor theme of “what if Uday Hussein ran a Ramada Inn.” And giving it a theme song everyone will associate with it is a stroke of brilliance! “Thank Heaven for Little Girls” is very catchy.

Water has extraordinary electrical properties when trapped in tiny channels — a finding that calls for a re-think about key processes in biology, climate and nanotechnology.

@quixoticgeek Real intelligence in humans and other animals does not have or require consumption of all existing data or data that will be. Nor do their rates of consuming data permit that in their lifetimes. Nor is it possible because of latency for machine and animal. Nor do animals have a fusion reactor except the one in the sky. Childish rich men disagree, believing wealth indicates intelligence.

This year, #Al #capex as defined as information processing equipment plus software has added more to GDP growth than consumers' spending.
    Source: Renaissance Macro Research
We are heading for 4Q25 where AI Capex investment growth in America is twice the amount of consumer spending growth. Our economy will be defined by a quest for AI. It must succeed or we will be ruined. All or nothing. CapEx = capital expenditures, such as equipment. For AI, much of this is for #datacenters.

@kaia Hide-a-bed or sofa bed is very old. We have one that is very old, and will replace without the feature. It's extremely rare that it gets used as a foldout bed. The metal mechanism makes it weigh a ton. And for us with a premium mattress the lines in the mattress where it folds aren't comfortable. But for some circumstances, sure. Just my opinion. YMMV

    @dan613 @lednaBM Agreed, #GeneHackman deaths probably #carbonmonoxide.

But alarms don't always help even if you have them. CO detector sensitivity degrades over time, and people neglect to replace them. Some people have poor hearing and/or sleep too deeply to hear alarms. CO poisoning is insidious, reducing both physical and cognitive abilities to take action. Dog w lower body weight wd have been overcome first. Wife may have died last, ignoring her own symptoms to attend to dog and husband.
