@inthehands It's also the case that, if I ask someone to do something, at some point any ambiguity in my request is turned into non-ambiguous actions. It's no machine-human threshold. Differences of interpretation are normal in human communication.

What you've called a "tantalizing false promise" in the thread of expecting from LLMs "the same kind of common-sense interpretation we expect of humans", is a *true* promise. I expect and see LLMs making human-like coding mistakes all the time.

@carnage4life I remember before I bought my model 3 (in 2018) wondering about this same issue. I scoured the net and found posts by people who'd analyzed communications between the car and the mothership and were convincing that it was all not too complicated and both mapping and car network functions could likely be hacked into place with some python scripts on a rented server. Seemed reasonable enough.

There are enough of the cars out there that there'll be 3rd party repairs and parts.

@clacke The line from 1 teaspoon to 1/3 of a cup (?) is breaking my brain.

    Love the image though.

@JamesWidman @Sablebadger @mekkaokereke @staidwinnow @Jorsh I’m trying to wrap my head around the reply visibility issue — I see replies to Mr. Okereke’s original post, but am I only seeing a subset of them. Is it that there are always a bunch of racist replies but they come from instances blocked by the instance that hosts my account? Or the visibility setting that people are using for racist replies hides them from everyone but the original poster?

@JamesWidman @Sablebadger @mekkaokereke @staidwinnow @Jorsh I definitely believe there’s plenty happening in the site that is out of sight, I’m just trying to figure out the mechanism that’s hiding it and what I can do about it.

Be not afraid, but bubble shadows have color, and the color loses all saturation right before it pops. #science #optics #physics

@48kRAM @thomasfuchs I still haven’t wrapped my head around how they’re managing the kind of performance said to come from the things with so little RAM. Maybe the high memory bandwidth on those things is part of it? My laptop’s still Intel but I guess I’ll find out when it dies and I have to replace it.

@thomasfuchs Makes me wonder if it's a play for VC funding "we're a streaming platform just like Disney +, the next big thing!" or something.

@kandyd @thomasfuchs Plex has a very brief support article on the software's legality. It doesn't address much. https://support.plex.tv/articles/is-plex-illegal/

We are often asked, “is plex illegal?”. The answer is of course no, but you can read more about that here.

@thomasfuchs Plex is great but I do worry about it’s weird propensity as of late to try to turn itself into some kind of also-ran commmercial streaming service. I’m always having to remove that cruft from the sidebar when I install the app.

@evan the most effective role in fighting climate change has been taken by billionaires and corporations, and their fight to avoid any climate change back to prior levels has been a wild success for half a century. Hence, donor and lobbyist are clearly the most effective roles within our systems of government.
