   @thomasfuchs Plex is great but I do worry about it’s weird propensity as of late to try to turn itself into some kind of also-ran commmercial streaming service. I’m always having to remove that cruft from the sidebar when I install the app.

     @kandyd @thomasfuchs Plex has a very brief support article on the software's legality. It doesn't address much. https://support.plex.tv/articles/is-plex-illegal/

     @zachnfine @thomasfuchs It is a decent FAST platform, and an ad-supported VOD platform. There are some things you can only find on Plex! That's all well and good; my concern is what happens when rights holders come to Plex and tell them to stop letting people host their own content, since it's such a vector for paid illegal streaming.

     @thomasfuchs Makes me wonder if it's a play for VC funding "we're a streaming platform just like Disney +, the next big thing!" or something.
