@crumbler one doesn't have to be a big Sheryl fan to imagine she is probably pretty good at revenge.

@lispi314 @ireneista oh interesting. Emacs integration would be fun. I have only used emacs with the bibtex export.

@ireneista Thanks for this—yeah. I've really only used Zotero (and depend on it in my workflow), so I'd be curious to try others.

@heybenji @Steve Always good to bring up! Though in this case I think a nonprofit could work perfectly well.

@cyberlyra I feel like if I accomplish nothing else in life, I at least manage to get a few students a year to use password managers!
I personally use KeePass, which if combined with cloud storage (I use Nexcloud via @mayfirst) gets you the convenience of a cloud service without any company holding your keys.

@coatilex thanks for this. Why is it so hard to have a book without a store in it? My favorite ereader was the Sony reader before they added a store to it. Such a great device.

In which I follow Ivan Illich down a thought experiment about what it would look like to tabulate the cost of inventing words, and price out my own coinages.

For folks who like "loyal" devices (as @ethanz puts it), e.g. FLOSS, non-spying, etc., any favorite tablets or e-readers?

@taylorlorenz Do you have a favorite longform piece (by yourself or others) on the global dynamics of influencer culture? Asking for an intro class at your old CU Boulder:)

@flancian @ktoddbrown @edumerco @MarieVC @Matt_Noyes Thank you for doing this. I suspect lots of people will agree with you that the time has come, and I welcome the discussion. I'm personally still on the side of Limit, I think, just because there are people I want to follow who are on Threads and have yet to move. But I would not block such a move if the community wants to go this way.
