@dajb I found that intensely annoying, especially since I had six different Gmail accounts open at the same time, which is a lot, even for me.
I can't change my workflow at work, but at home, my workflow is Obsidian-> pandoc.

@dajb It calls to mind @pluralistic's debunking of the phrase, "If you're not paying for the product, you're the product." Here we are, paying for the product, and yet, we are the product at the same time.
@heybenji @ntnsndr By the time the news becomes public, it's too late to change it. The way to get people to consider creating co-ops is to plant the idea in their heads well before they're even considering a major change.
It's not too late to have more new or converted co-op instances, though!
@cwebber I'm glad to hear you say we need tech that's cooperative. I agree in the broad sense, but I also agree in the specific sense that I think Mastodon servers could be adapted to serve as the "platform" in platform co-ops. I have some early thoughts on ActivityPub extensions that could operate the business logic. There's a lot to learn along the way, but it seems very promising. I'd be curious to know if anyone else out there has similar thoughts.
@ntnsndr @pdbowman Nathan, I'm talking with Paul about beefing up my co-op's cybersecurity, possibly including moving to a server outside the US. Seems to me that MayFirst would be a good option. Is this a thing we could request as part off our hosting plan? Are others talking about doing this?
@ntnsndr The who?
I spend a lot of time thinking about how white supremacy is at the core of the Trump campaign, and at the same time, the Trump campaign has laid bare how dishonest, ridiculous, and futile white supremacy really is.
Waiting to watch @ntnsndr speak
@ntnsndr I almost skipped this webinar, but I'm glad I'm here. "Gig labor co-ops" like mine really need benefits to take our next big step forward. I'm thinking something loosely modeled on Lagun Aro. But, it's really hard, because health systems are so scattered and disconnected. I'll be curious to see if the ESBA can help.
@Wileymiller It's paywalled. Perhaps you could summarize or provide a pithy quote.
@ntnsndr Lost, like tears in rain.
@Brandi_Buchman I can only assume once he has his spear and magic helmet, he'll be off to kill the wabbit.
@ntnsndr Dartboard?
@ntnsndr Nope, it's just an idea I have. I see the potential for platform and/or second-tier co-ops to alleviate some of the precarity and uncertainty that co-ops face face everywhere, but most conspicuously in Argentina.
@ntnsndr This is roughly analogous to the indivisible fund going to another co-op upon voluntary dissolution.
@ntnsndr It would require an odd form of secondary incorporation that was still very respectful of autonomy and independence. As in, the second-tier co-op would own a small piece of the first-tier co-op, but in the event of involuntary suspension or dissolution, the second-tier co-op automatically becomes the full owner, as a holding company, until such time as the workers can reestablish themselves. Or maybe just the assets, not the legal entity.
@ntnsndr Yes. I'm trying to imagine a form of federation that would protect them against suspension.
@ntnsndr , are you following Milei's misadventures in Argentina?
@thomasfuchs Dude. You need to be more specific.
That describes dozens, if not hundreds, of situations.
