    I was at the record release party at Tower Records on Queen Anne in Seattle for Follow The Leader, my dad was just like here go stand in line for the record and have fun kthxbai while my mom wailed on him for letting me go by myself at all of 12 years old lol

    @alex that's fantastic to hear! I would love to see a development community for social media platforms go back to being about the code, and not about the politics.

    Makes me wonder how we can gatekeep, so that we can maintain this sort of old school neutrality we grew up with, with the bleeding edge of nostr.

    @alex @ahmad @bot I think there needs to be a social movement to stay putting much more pressure on gigantic companies freeloading off the labor of free and open source software.

    I thought about helping jump in and getting some sort of idea to assuage this nostr identifier on the AP side issue thrown together into a PR, but I want to see Alex given more support first.

    @silverpill Let's not get ahead of ourselves. ActivityPub has a boatload of problems, man. It's a multimedia interface, which brings with it the complexity of dealing with that. Nostr seems very specifically a microblogging platform. It's a glorified, web3 partyline. With that level of simplicity, I'm pretty sure trying to make it a standard would get in the way of its adoption.

    The ActivityPub network, such as it is, is dominated in this space by Mastodon, a gigantic silo of 1.8 million registered users. Look, the fact is, these things follow a pattern of 80% of the users being handled by the top 20% of the sites.

    I'm rooting for it, personally. It's rapid, reckless progress, but it's gotta be done.

    Although, the "cryptobro culture" of nostr is fucking :blobvomiting:

    @alex I really hate Pleroma.

    How much experience have you had with pg_repack? I've been using it intermittently, worked the first time, but lately it seems to be making corrupted databases on me. I can't seem to figure out why it's doing that, and Google is now fucking useless, so I can't seem to figure out if anyone else has had the same issues.
