@skinnylatte if you haven’t read Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz’s book “An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States” I’d highly recommend it. It’s a good overview of how colonialism and counterinsurgent war built the United States, and how the legacy of those two systems pervade our current situation. As a white guy born in the land of Manifest Destiny Colorado it was really illuminating. https://www.beacon.org/An-Indigenous-Peoples-History-of-the-United-States-P1164.aspx
@dansup is this related to not being able to see accounts you know you are following, not even being able to see them when you put their account handle in the Explore search tab? Because that’s still happening to me.
@thomasfuchs I was really hoping they’d expand the tech to make every key dynamic. Imagine: that A key changes to a smile emoji, because Apple Intelligence thinks you’d want to use it at some random time during the day!
Hey #WheatRidge! The Active Transportation Advisory Team (yes, the ATATs!) are hosting their State of the City March 10th at Colorado Plus Brewpub on 38th at 6pm. Celebrate our community's progress and help shape the future of walking and biking in Wheat Ridge.
We'll have updates from city leaders on key bike and pedestrian projects, and you'll have a chance to share ideas to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians in our city!
I run social media for the inactive mine reclamation program in Colorado. Thanks to the @coloradosun for reporting on the program and the need to keep safeguarding the state’s incredible number of abandoned mines. And please: no matter the season, if you are hiking, biking, or skiing, please be aware of your surroundings. Stay on marked trails, and if you see an open mine opening don’t approach it! Report it to 303-866-3567 or email at drms_info@state.co.us. https://coloradosun.bluelena.io/lt.php?x=4lZy~GE6KaWe7pR5y_A4VONw136nvNQjk-kvjKY3KnDOEHOs-0y.zuZw2o2njdU~kNYxZ5fHJ-HNU579y_5LwSbc1k
@skinnylatte my uncle, a bona fide rocket scientist who worked in Cupertino, had to live in Campbell, with all the other rocket scientists and techies. I hear that was where you went if you wanted something “affordable.”
After about 35 years of not playing my sax I decided to sell it today. I had been holding on to it in case one of the kids picked it up, but they chose bass and violin instead. It’s a real beaut: a 1963 Selmer Mark VI, in amazing shape considering my grandfather gave it to me as a teenager! I’ll miss it but am excited for another jazz player to enjoy it. It’s one of those instruments that needs to be played!
I’ve noticed that Trump keeps ending all his social posts with the same “Thank you for your attention to this matter!” statement that every boss does when what they really mean is “do this or else, pion.” #USPol #Trump
@Fragglemuppet using image descriptions here has improved how I write image captions for the interpretive signage I design. Like you say, it’s good practice, and it reminds me to look a bit deeper into my own images when posting, to see things I didn’t, even when I made the image. Thanks!
@msbellows@GottaLaff the workaround is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. It’s an agreement among participating states to award all their electoral votes to whichever presidential ticket wins the overall popular vote. It would come into effect only when it would guarantee that outcome.
209 EVs’-worth of states have passed it, another 50 pending…getting close to the magical 270 threshold.
