@thomasfuchs I'm not really sure that "Mastodon user" == "average consumer", and even then, telling users (aka "your audience") it's their fault for using features that are heavily advertised is condescending.

After your "you’re all happily granting access ¯\_(ツ)_/¯", I can almost hear "you dumb plebeians". Dunk on Apple and Google, not on the average consumer that's being duped.

You don't need to explicitly and actively sabotage R2R to be very much against R2R. When 99.99% people can't replace a cracked screen because "something something vertical integration and security and complex tech", it IS anti R2R.

No? Different apps have different UIs to fit their different features and ways to communicate.

I want to use my Mastodon creds to login into any #Lemmy or #kbin instance. That's all I want. Not jump through hoops. I don't know if ActivityPub protocol permits this, but it should.

How? By using your mastodon account to follow lemmy/kbin communities, and have a messy and subpar experience?

You can't use your credentials from instance X to login on instance Y, so if you want to correctly participate on lemmy/kbin, you need an account on one of these instances.

So it's not "lemmy can't see kbin, but kbin can see lemmy", I think it's more "both apps are not mature enough, instances and new users are popping non-stop since yesterday, and the fediverse isn't super straightforward"

@youronlyone I replied in a Lemmy (beehaw) thread from a kbin (fedia) instance, and got replies back from beehaw users.

Edit: though I didn't get any notification in kbin from the replies
