Not a fan of genAI thing but playing the devil's advocate, latter can be said true for many technologies we use on daily basis, such as AWS data centers that provide the infrastructure for apps like Signal. I once had a friend who insisted on watching videos in 480p as 720p would consume more energy. Sorry for the slightly off-topic
