We had to go to another issuer and they were satisfied. Another client straight up told us in a meeting not to use them even in test environments for their stuff.

I still use it for all my personal stuff. Theres nothing wrong with them. But security side of the tech industry usually doesn't approve of them.

@cjd @caekislove @p @lain @silverpill @jaff @mint @sun It was only last year. Lets Encrypt is bottom of the barrel for cert issuer quality. Some of my clients cringe when they hear we use it but its understandable for testing purposes.

@caekislove @jaff @p @lain @silverpill @cjd @mint @sun Many companies refuse to acknowledge their certs as legitimate. I worked with some large retailers and they were a no go until the site I was working with had a more recognized cert.

The only thing I ever use them for is testing. For production though...no way.

Yup. We need to do something. Probably a lot of reasons. Goyslop, toxic shit all around us, water and air supplies filled with junk, etc etc.

I tried to rom hack a device to make it degoogled. They wont even let you run things like many 3rd party calendars without google play libs installed. Google basically tied all their services to how apps are even able to work. You can still give up gmail from scanning your emails by moving off. Abandon Chrome. But yeah its near impossible to 100% do without google on Android now. Its not like the early versions anymore.

My problem was my job asked me to use certain apps and that sorta screwed me...

I really wish there was a solid android alternative that wasn't just rom hacks with an android core still. Plasma Mobile has promise.

I just want something 100% not affiliated with google. But most still don't have a strong base and could vanish tomorrow.
