@evan
You should explain what you mean by trust. I trust MSM to spin events, hide what is important, weave narratives to manipulate us, and generally indoctrinate us.

I went to lunch in Berkeley and talked to these cops guarding the Apple store. They have six police officers there from open to close. The store was hit 7 times in 6 weeks previously.
None of the other stores on the street had security. Our tax money is at work protecting the biggest corporation.

@Blort
The phone number is foundational to Signal. It took them years to enable the usernames which are still tied to your phone number. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for them to change out the foundations. Try simplex.chat that was designed to not even have identities. Spinning up decentralized servers is also easy. Desktop integration does not work that well yet, but they can improve the features on this solid foundation. -

@Blort VC's throw around a lot of money hoping but not requiring a payback. Simplex is a platform on which monetized apps could be created. We can only hope that the chat app stays clean. I am flexible to switch up comms anytime I need to, but most people are stubbornly stuck with whatever they have adopted. This is why I regret convincing people to use Signal years ago.

@evan You should do some polls on when Odesa and Kiev will fall to RF.

@jeffowski I am not arguing both sides. You need to know the devil to defeat it. Ignorance is a losing strategy. The epic tale of Beowulf is about that. I want you to be better equipped for the battle.

@jeffowski and if you follow me, you will know very well where I stand and that I am not sitting on any sidelines.

@jeffowski
It is my observation and understanding that some people wield power over others. I am interested in how they do it to discover how they can be upended or power shifted back to the powerless to ameliorate their suffering from hunger and other hardships.I am not sure how you read what I said to imply that those in power deserve that power, because I largely do not believe that. I was providing a perspective of those in power.

@jeffowski
I am not taking a side but rather adding context to understand power dynamics. If we do not understand something, we cannot fix it. When it comes to power, it is basically a zero sum game. If everybody is king, nobody is king. I generally support giving people with less power more, but with few exceptions, those with the power will not voluntarily relinquish it. I am interested to understand a solution you might propose. -

@jeffowski Imagine someone is sitting next to the pool and watches a child fall in and drown without doing anything about it. He is a surely a horrible person. Now imagine him watching a million kids drown in the pool.
The other perspective is that the owner class needs to keep people motivated to work in their factories or bullshit jobs. If everybody had their needs met, they would be less likely to work the shit jobs. It is also a zero sum game where if everyone is rich, nobody is rich.

@1ll173r47 @dragestil @lightweight
Bribes do happen, but it is usually a simple explanation. The sales people at these companies are master ego strokers and know the ways to get to the right decision makers while ensuring they exclude those of us who could impede their deals. The fundamental problem is that FOSS solutions do not have these teams of people who will fly in to demonstrate and sell the solution. Nobody is selling freedom. -

@1ll173r47 @dragestil @lightweight I have worked at many companies in my life implementing both SAP and Oracle. If organizations asked me, I would recommend considering FOSS solutions, but they never do. Their mindset is usually:
We need SW. Call a bunch of vendors to get demos.
I don't think many ever entertain free solutions or think it is even a viable option. The truth is that few to no free viable options exist to satisfy organizations with complicated requirements in CRM and ERP.

@TheConversationUS Notice on the list of supporters of the ICC that the US is absent. The US does not recognize its jurisdiction because many of its leaders would end up at it.
Putin has a 70-90% approval rating among Russian citizens. To the dismay of your funders, if this war does not go nuclear, he will probably go down in history as one of its greatest leaders.
