@_elena @pfefferle Oops! That's my goof.
I checked before I posted but didn't find what is clearly there. 🫣

@_elena @JustinH FYI, while the ActivityPub plugin adds the fediverse:creator meta tag, it doesn't work without the rest of the Open Graph metadata.
The "Open Graph" plugin by Will Norris will finish the metadata. https://wordpress.org/plugins/opengraph/
@pfefferle @Gargron tl;dr Mastodon basically DDOSed my WordPress instances. ~30k in exactly 30 minutes, then back to baseline ~0.
Between 18:28-18:58, it looks like every Mastodon instance decided to request the posts which were federated WP+AP months ago.
Any idea why?
@holly @pettter @researchfairy A multi-party parliamentary government elected by proportional representation has been in the news recently. The ruling party has less than 27% of the seats and 10 coalition partner parties.
@aral Uh, no. This is some weird tinfoil hat nonsense. eiDAS isn't Clipper Chip, it PKI.
This regulation would require that browsers recognize the certificates of EU government-issued IDs.
It would allow me to use the same hardware token ID I use to file taxes and customs paper to verify my ID with banks, EU agencies, and other governments. It would allow us to use our IDs to sign PDFs, and widely enable passport verification.
@otfrom @lain @kaia I agree with your closing sentiment, but it's worth remembering that many of those countries (especially in the southeast) were colonized and never had colonies. Ottoman rule, for example, was politically and economically similar to English rule in Ireland (without using locals as agents in Africa and the Americas).
@pettter @neil No curation. No next-gen algorithm with predictive sorting. I want to browse bookshelves containing every book ever digitized, organized by the Dewey Decimal system, in the most fantastic monumental library architecture my GPU can render.
@pettter @neil I prefer the experience of wandering the stacks of a library to paging search results on a website, not least because of the serendipitous finds.
But I live many thousands of kilometers from a library with even a middling collection in a language I can read. I suffer that every day.
@dgar Aliens show up and get miffed because we don't look anything like the photos. "It's an old pic..."
@inthehands @bleistifterin @dtauvdiodr "of course a good vocational education is essential for anyone who wants a job" is very nearly the exact opposite of what this thread is about. You're renouncing the core of liberal education: that one should learn to learn and teach one's self whatever one wishes to learn.
Old heads remember Eternal September.
Mastodon is experiencing a Long October.
I, for one, hope it too becomes Eternal October.
