@GuyDudeman@philip_cardella I imagine we could have done better, but anything other than a win would leave us dissatisfied. Since we’re already suffering, I’d like to avoid being punitive to my side. Enormous efforts, really unfathomably insurmountable forces, were at play in disrupting the distribution of honest information as we moved toward and through the election. Pointing fingers at a few outliers, without understanding the larger disinformation ecosystem, isn’t freaking fair.
@GuyDudeman@philip_cardella My eyes are on the cooptation of xhitter by Donny’s little k-powered helper, by gushers of disinfo paid for by the Thiels, Sachs, and the broligarchy.
@philip_cardella@GuyDudeman Their goal was to divert, to distract, to flood the zone with sh!t - and they did. It was enough to support the rampant racism and sexism in America, with television news whining about economic problems, caused mostly by corporate greed, and TFG exacerbating the FUD - they swept the election.
This isn’t an easy time right now, this post election, name-calling, finger-pointing, confusing, disillusioning, disappointing time. I’m finding the convos and chats I’ve had here on the #Fediverse have been incredibly helpful. Even the prickly, seething, pissed-off stuff. I hope we can keep this going, because it’s better here, mostly kinder, smarter, more thoughtful, and funnier than anyplace else out there. The end ♥️😻
@evan@stefan I know, only from being told so, that plenty of fedi users are hit with racism, otherism, and the like. I’ve seen trolling and gatekeeping, but this goes deeper, into users’ mentions, where victims are attacked in private. It’s absolutely not ok.
@evan@stefan Yes, I do, and I’m honestly concerned. I fear that meta, with its extremely lenient moderation, tolerant of thinly veiled racism, sexism, otherism of the most profound kind, and tuned to magnifying algorithms, will potentially harm some of the people most precious to me in this noncommercial fediverse. Please try to understand my reservations…
