    Left-wing coalition wins French elections so King Macron forms right-wing government.

    Such democracy.

    (In case you needed another reminder that fucking neoliberals will always choose fascism over social justice when they feel their wallets are threatened.)

      No, but pro-fascist leftists like you are trying to turn "center-left" and "liberal" into insults.

      We're not going back, Steven.

      Stuff like this (and plenty in my own #usa #USpol ) makes cynical me wonder if “center-left” is just a #marketing ploy used by a subset of conservatives

      @aral "macron's centrist party". What a joke.

      Macron told he was "neither left, neither right" but all he did was right wing politics (and that's when he didn't endorse far right politics).

      Remarkably, this thread is dominated by people who aren't French, and know nothing about French parliamentary politics, spouting fantastically ignorant bullshit like "ignoring the results of an election," for the purpose of empowering fascists who aren't French either. Specifically, American fascists.

      There's a bit of background on what actually happened, here:

      @barney @steve_zeke @aral The profile = “Pro-democracy”.

      The post = Supporting Macron ignoring the result of an election.

      “Centre-Left” in a nutshell.

      Briefly, NFP is an alliance of numerous parties that joined to thwart Le Pen's Nazi-adjacent National Rally. NFP won enough seats to prevent National Rally from forming a government, but not enough to form a government that would survive an immediate vote of no confidence. The far left declined to negotiate, instead demanding a government that would be immediately dissolved.

      Did Macron do that as effectively as he could have? Could he have somehow named a government that had more left-wing representation, but could still survive? Did the far-left parties ensure a more right-wing government by refusing to negotiate, knowing that National Rally won 140 seats?

      I don't know. Neither does anyone else who has appeared in this thread so far. It's just been an avalanche of bullshit from non-French pro-fascist leftists.
