Swell. On top of everything else this week, there was just an earthquake. FFS.

Robert Link (phaedral@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 23-Nov-2024 07:21:17 JST Robert Link @GottaLaff I grew up in L.A. county. Buildings shake more than that when an 18-wheeler rolls by.

Laffy (gottalaff@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 23-Nov-2024 07:36:19 JST Laffy @phaedral I've lived in L.A. my entire life, so this isn't new. But this didn't feel like a truck rolling by. It was jello-y and loud.
So funny how people think (not you) I have no idea how quakes feel.

Robert Link (phaedral@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 23-Nov-2024 07:42:41 JST Robert Link @GottaLaff @wendinoakland We had a 4-something a couple months ago, in Highland Park. I work on the 5th floor downtown. Never felt such a jolt! From a tiny little 4-something quake!

For those not familiar with earthquake proofing high rise buildings here's sort of what I was looking at on the B of A plans...seems they have been putting it to use successfully.
I disagree with the wording on this example though, I think the building still moves somewhat
