I don’t tend to share a whole bunch of what I do with fedi, some things I do share, though.

When it comes to Web Development, I like to challenge myself, I have a fairly strict no client-side JavaScript rule for all my web projects. It can be fun looking up “can you do this without JavaScript?”, proceed to see everyone say “nope, impossible.” Then finding a way to accomplish it anyway.

My hobbies alternate on an unpredictable schedule. Sometimes I’ll just spend weeks or months on end on a project, then leave it for years before coming back to it. Other times, my primary hobby will last for a couple of weeks, then move on to something else. This can be both convenient and inconvenient, depending.

Trying to find a good icon pack for Linux that’s easy on my eyes. I randomly thought of the name “Easy on the Icons.” Which, if I were talented enough, I’d totally make an icon pack with that name.

Anyone creating a dark-themed icon pack with minimal brightness is welcome to use that name! Be sure to tell me about it because I want to use it!

@RehnSturm256 Japs are just really particular when it comes to copyright and having their work shared. Some artists in Japan have even stopped posting all together and wiped their art off the internet due to people sharing it without permission.

It’s something I will never truly understand. But I am also not japanese and have never once even been to japan. So I’m no expert on this by any means. lol

@histoire @RustyCrab It’s the new Disney spin on the story they changed it to “Snow Wide and the 7 Dwarves”. The original isn’t suited for modern sensibilities.

@histoire @snacks @lucy If German toilets are deeper, I’m in favor. I always get up to pee and due to my morning wood, my dick always dips into the toilet water and it’s never a fun time. I don’t even have a massive cock, but this is a regular occurrence for me.

@RealitytheBloodWraith Aethy has already defederated with us, so they won’t see what you say on your account here (atleast they won’t see it through aethy). Unless they refederate, which is doubtful.

@RehnSturm256 I’ve noticed fedi becoming like that too. It feels like when I started using fedi there were 2 sides of fedi. The “Canceldon instances”, and “Dark Fedi” ones. With a rare few fedi instances which managed to stay in contact with both somehow.

Now it feels like “Dark Fedi” is starting to get just as defederation happy as the rest of fedi which they would make fun of. So now you’re getting these weird subgroups of fedi, everyone forming their own little echo chambers.

It feels like being defederated by association used to be exclusively a “canceldon” thing pretty much, but now I’m noticing “based” “free speech” “dark fedi” instances doing it.

Either you die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become to villain.

It’s kinda funny, I never started Shota House with the intention of being a “Free Speech Instance” always wanted to be a little cozier and slightly more moderated. Though it’s starting to seem like with baest gone, we’re one of the more light-touch free speech leaning instances.

@sun @anemone @nerthos I think there’s a huge difference between someone visiting and someone living there.

The country obviously has a vested interest in making itself seem appealing to tourists. Even North Korea tries to make itself appear like a civilized country to tourists. It specifically puts on a country wide show just for tourists, being very careful as to what the tourists actually see to shape their view of North Korea.

I’m not saying Dubai is on the level of North Korea, but I’m just saying there’s a huge difference between visiting somewhere and actually having to live there for years, dealing with society rules and government agencies and such.

@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty In his first term (near the tail end) he was trying to get a bill passed which would force the payment processors not to discriminate. The Biden admin killed that the second they got in though, so it never got through.

So it’s already been something he has specifically proposed before. All he needs to do is revive it.

@neo Yeah, that’s just not nearly enough. That sort of thing would make it really easy to kinda accidentally turn into a heavily censored instance.

So many problems can be fixed by force-marking instances as NSFW, stripping images, setting to followers only, etc…

I always feel like defederation should be the last resort.
