I'm interested to know hobbies in the fedi What is your hobby? Do you have several ones? Do you share it over the network? What's your favorite part about it? Gaming and anime still count !
What is your hobby? I have several, but my main hobbies right now are amateur bodybuilding and running Gaming is also a big hobby Other hobbies I have: knitting, sewing, leatherwork, crochet, reading, music and dogs
Do you have several ones? Yes, see above
Do you share it over the network? Yeah, not so much lately though
What's your favorite part about it? The self improvement and the fact you have to learn about yourself to make the most out of training, nutrition and rest
@waifu I bicycle around local trails when it's warm and I enjoy fiddling around on my computer trying to accomplish random things. I've learned a bit about Docker while getting AI stuff running on a ROCm container. GPU pass through to a VM was over my head. Lately I've been working on this plane that I've designed from scratch to be 3D printed. I think I've posted about it before but I've been thinking I should post more regularly in case someone was interested or had some insight. I enjoy the puzzle of working out how it works and putting all the pieces together.
@waifu Programming, Web Development (Nodejs and EJS), 3D Printing, Game Development (Unity3D, hopefully Godot soon), Gaming, Writing (sometimes), Cryptocurrency, Privacy, Technology
I don’t tend to share a whole bunch of what I do with fedi, some things I do share, though.
When it comes to Web Development, I like to challenge myself, I have a fairly strict no client-side JavaScript rule for all my web projects. It can be fun looking up “can you do this without JavaScript?”, proceed to see everyone say “nope, impossible.” Then finding a way to accomplish it anyway.
My hobbies alternate on an unpredictable schedule. Sometimes I’ll just spend weeks or months on end on a project, then leave it for years before coming back to it. Other times, my primary hobby will last for a couple of weeks, then move on to something else. This can be both convenient and inconvenient, depending.
@waifu nearly, yeah. Not that I was working on it 24/7 but still. It's a really big game and I did pretty much everything except for the voice acting, art, sound effects, and some of the writing. Plus community plug-ins and stuff ofc. 99% of the NPCs are unique with names and they all have day/night/week schedules that they follow, so I had to create an entire wiki to keep track of all of them and their history and such so I could write fitting dialogue for them and everything.
- computers (laptops, linux, nixOS) - nixOS: been using it for nearly 3 years? here and there, more "permanent" these days. I've learned a lot about it and it feels powerful. - music production (worked for a singer for around 2 years now) - both of those things are on the internet, on youtube and github. - I watch anime too, not as much as I did when I was a teenager, but still some. - I watch movies with my mom, usually on weekends. Purely action movies because well, she loves to see dudes beat or shoot each other up. - I game fairly often. I've gotten into Genshin Impact again, and I also play Honkai Star Rail on my phone, and also other couple gachas on it. On my laptop, aside from Genshin Impact, I play roguelikes (Noita, Streets of Rogue),or some coop games (Deep Rock Galactic, L4D2)
@waifu waifu should work as an intelligence gatherer for the feds he really knows how to get people to talk i like gaming and anime and i like racing games and i like cars and i like listening to music and i love ryuko with all my heart and i share it all and everyone sees it
@lina@eientei.org I genuinely think it's interesting to know other people, even if they live far away and such they're still friends. so are you into cars, how did you get into it? and what kind of cars?, I'm not too much into cars, if i ever bought one it would be something small and easy to drive, I like the original twingo and the beetle, but they're kind of a collector car, or a bike but one of those that you go sitting not like going forward, something more classy, and i'd fill it with stickers and plushies probably lol to push the women away from it
@waifu i liek cars mainly cuz i inherited it from my father, i like tuner cars mostly cuz tuning a car shows that you can get decent performance out of something that isn't a luxury toy for tasteless rich schmucks, can't pinpoint a car i like the most besides the vw passat b3 cuz that's my dad's car
@waifu racing games and initial d honestly ignited that in me pretty hard cuz before that i was kinda just dormant in this regard, or in a lot of things honestly, the right anime is just the spark needed to enjoy life, to make magma flow in your veins and blaze your heart, but if you don't even have anything for that spark to light up, then nothing can help you, honestly the only thing stopping me from doing things i'd enjoy more is my pisspoor time management
@lina@eientei.org interesting, honest I had never thought of how people liked cars they sometimes seemed like just a transport thing for me but indeed to tune a car must be a whole time and effort investment
@waifu its a complex thing, combining the fascination with mechanics, the fascination with machinery that creates loud sounds and heat, the need for speed and the feeling of being able to smoothly commandeer one tonne of steel as if it were an extension of your body
