    HSV-2 Prevalence: Data from 2015–2016 indicates that 15.9% of women in this age bracket were infected with HSV-2, compared to 8.2% of men.
    HSV-1 Prevalence: 50.9% of women aged 14–49 have HSV-1 (often oral herpes, though it can cause genital infections), compared to 45.2% of men.
    Disparities: Infection rates are significantly higher among non-Hispanic Black women (34.6% for HSV-2) compared to other racial and ethnic groups.
    Global Context: Globally, about 12% of people aged 15–49 have HSV-2, with women being more commonly infected than men. "
